New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, Division of Mental Hygiene seeks one (1) full-time Co-Response Program Director for the Bureau of Health Promotion of Justice Impacted Populations with primary responsibilities overseeing the Co-Response Program.

The Co-Response Program Director, reporting directly to the Executive Director is primarily responsible for day-to-day operations of Co-Response. To do so the Director will:

  • Provide field-based clinical observations for supervisors and ongoing coaching.

  • Coordinates team clinical rounds.

  • Work closely with operations and oversee the recruitment and interview process for all CRT lines.

  • Work closely with operations to address all unit operational and procurement needs.

  • Coordinate/consult with on-site NYPD management and staff to support daily operations, deployments, support days and car assignments.

  • Responsible for developing and coordinating all shift schedules and adequate planning to ensure all shifts are adequately staffed.

  • Approval of trainings, presentation requests, and all other requests for matters outside of work-related purposes.

  • Approval process for time and leave and overtime usage, including - approval codes, mandated & voluntary OT needs.

  • Oversee and monitor petty cash usage/develop usage protocols based on DOHMH standards.

  • Work in collaboration with monitoring and Evaluation to ensure proper data collection.

  • Oversee QA process for CRT operations and workflows.

  • Plan and implement corrective action activities to improve program operations.

  • Be readily accessible to program supervisors and staff to ensure the most appropriate response to emergency and crisis situations.

  • Oversee daily organizational and weekly review meetings.

  • Troubleshoot any challenges, issues or concerns that might arise and escalate issues to management as necessary.

  • Provide sound clinical direction to staff, leadership and stakeholders.

  • Maintain collaborate relationship and communication with NYPD, HEAT Director, Triage Director, and all other Unit Leadership.

  • Licensed NYS LCSW, required.

Minimum Qual Requirements

Qualification Requirements:

  1. (a) A doctorate degree in psychology from an accredited college and five years of full-time, satisfactory professional psychological experience in a recognized hospital, law enforcement agency, clinic, social agency, school, or other approved organization, of which at least eighteen months must have been in an administrative, managerial or executive capacity, or in supervision of professional psychologists performing duties in any of the settings described immediately above; and

(b) A valid license as Psychologist issued by the New York State Department

of Education; or
2.A valid license to practice medicine in the State of New York, and possession of a valid Board Certification issued by the American Specialty Board in the area of Psychiatry, and two years of full-time, satisfactory, professional psychological or psychiatric experience in a recognized hospital, clinic, law enforcement agency, social agency, school, or other approved organization, of which at least eighteen months must have been in an administrative, managerial or executive capacity, or in supervision of professional psychologists and/or psychiatrists performing duties in any of the settings immediately described above; or
3.Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have either the doctorate degree in psychology and the license as Psychologist described in "1" above, or the license to practice medicine and the Board Certification in Psychiatry as described in "2" above. In addition, all candidates must have the eighteen months of experience in an administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory capacity described in "1" and "2" above.

Preferred Skills

  • Licensed NYS LCSW, highly desired

  • 3 years clinical supervision experience with highly vulnerable populations, particularly the homeless and people with health, mental health, and substance abuse issues;

  • Strong understanding of the intersection of NYC's criminal justice and behavioral health systems Demonstrated knowledge and experience with best practices around violence risk identification and management, engagement of hard to reach clients, harm reduction, motivational interviewing, trauma informed care and, non-violent crisis intervention techniques.

  • Significant provider experience in behavioral health treatment and/or services. Research experience and strong written, oral, presentation, and facilitation skills;

  • Strong interpersonal skills;

  • Highly-developed management, analytical, and motivational skills;

  • Proven track record building cohesive and productive teams; ability to work effectively with diverse team and remain highly organized;

  • Proficient in computers, including Microsoft suite;

  • Creative problem-solver who enjoys working in fast-paced environment, is highly motivated and ability to coordinate multiple projects/tasks.
