Work with a team of Structures Engineers to develop state-of-the-art high cycle fatigue (HCF) and low cycle fatigue (LCF) models and tools for use in evaluating the next generation of jet engine components. These tools will enable Structures Engineers across the company to develop lightweight, full life designs within the part development cycle.
You will have the opportunity to work with multi-disciplinary and multi-organization teams to create innovative state-or-the-art tools that offer solutions to complex vibration problems for gas path airfoils and multi-axial stress fields on rotor hardware.
The Structures Engineer works closely with Module Center Structures practitioners on field issues and new designs to insure that our new tools and life systems are utilized.
The job also involves automating the post processing of engine strain gage and performance data to create library of vibratory responses to be used in the development of a probabilistic Goodman Diagram approach to assess the vibratory response of jet engine blades and vanes.
Also work on the development of Advanced LCF program which incorporates elastic plastic behavior, creep, and multi-axial fatigue into one life system.
Develop usage based lifing model for commercial and military jet engine rotors.
