The Core Research Facilities Financial Administrator (CRFFA) provides financial and administrative support for core research facilities at Syracuse University. These facilities contain specialized instruments and personnel allowing fee-for-service use of the facilities to the research community, making research more efficient and cost effective.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required.
Five (5) plus years' experience in an accounting or research compliance position.
Job Specific Qualifications
Knowledge of and familiarity with federal regulations and principles including OMB 2 CFR Chapter I, Chapter II, Part 200 et al.
Experience in higher education research administration strongly preferred.
Solid understanding of financial systems and procedures.
Experience with PeopleSoft financials strongly preferred.
Exceptional ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
Strong and proven verbal and written communication skills.
Responsibilities
Reviews and approves new core facilities and equipment recharge rates for both internal and external users and annually reviews existing recharge rates.
Coordinates with the Comptroller's Office tax group to assess potential tax implications of external rates.
Work with the Office of Sponsored Accounting and the Office of Research to support financial and administrative tools to support core facilities, recharge centers, and other related research tasks.
Assists researchers in developing recharge rates and sustainability plans for new equipment funded by startup funds and sponsored projects.
Ensures compliance with federal Uniform Guidance as it applies to core facilities.
Coordinates with researchers and various administrative departments to identify opportunities to share research equipment and explore the creation of new core facilities.
