The Core Measure Abstractor is responsible for the review of core measure records and the abstraction of

information from the medical records of discharged patients and concurrently. The core measure abstractor enters

information abstracted from medical records into data base program (COMET) as specified.

Minimum education

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred but not required

Minimum Work Experience

3 years Clinical Experience required; 1 year management experience preferred. Personal computer experience for

word processing & data base management required

Required Skills

Employee must meet physical and mental requirements as identified by the physical activity evaluation form.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) required. Previous acute care clinical experience

required. Attention to detail and follow-up is essential. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate

effectively. Must be able to work independently and with little supervision. Ability to multi-task, organize, and remain

courteous as a representative of the hospital. Flexibility in the constant reprioritization of activities is essential. Ability

to maintain confidentiality of personal information and sensitive situations which may arise in both the hospital

environment and employee health.
