The Copy Lead is charged with coordinating work resources from the copywriter pooled resource group to ensure efficient work turnaround and alignment of Creative Development to Marketing Strategy. This position is also responsible for the general content strategy & daily editorial content and experience at the DSG Pro Tips site. In addition, this role drives campaigns and related projects from conceptualization to rollout, ensuring all communications adhere to the approved Brand vision through the copywrite process.

Design, Develop, and Produce Creative Collateral:

  • Develop appropriate copywrite solutions within our campaign thematic and brand guidelines for the primary purpose of effectively selling merchandise, services or related brand messages

  • Focus on thematic brand approach, written standards, activation ideas and tactical promotion to fully realize breakthrough creative that supports the brand vision and differentiates DSG

  • Be a champion of the athlete - putting the shopper at the center of every communication, ensuring authenticity to the sport and that the messaging is appropriate to the audience and objective of the project

  • Works closely with a cross-functional team, including merchants, marketers, partners and vendors, to create engaging content through internal team and third party vendors/agencies

  • Partners with SEO team to ensure relevant content creation, regular competitor analysis to stay informed of new content marketing, SEO trends, and Pro Tips natural search rankings; recommends actionable steps to improve content rankings and visibility, in partnership with the SEO team and creative team

  • Partners with IT/DEV on site mechanics ensuring optimal UX, including reviewing analytics from site engagement to drive UI Design strategy and site enhancements and developing reporting on site engagement, click-throughs, traffic, conversion and other relevant metrics and share expertise on ROI with Leadership Team

Coordinate Pooled Copywrite Resources & Align Creative Development to Overall Marketing Strategy:

  • Proactively develops and refines opportunities for serial storytelling and identifies content gaps to ensure positive customer experience and user engagement through DSG Pro Tips

  • Ensures overall accuracy of content and correct setup of DSG Pro Tips website content, including maintenance of brand voice and style standards

  • Articulate ideas, solutions and provide sound recommendations to secure alignment around creative solutions

Team Development & Collateral Delivery:

  • Provides creative direction to writers, designers and photographers, in conjunction with the creative team

  • Directly manages in-house publishing team of content writers and designers

  • Foster a team environment that cultivates innovation in the graphic design space, providing critical feedback and guidance to direct reports, while remaining open to feedback

  • Maintain understanding of current & evolving retail trends and industry news, design techniques and best in class practices and procedures in order to facilitate learning for direct reports

  • Focus on continuous improvement within the team's work product and work process

  • Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, English or Communications

  • 7-10 years of experience

  • Experience in SEO copywriting,; online content creation, native advertising or sponsored content preferred

  • Experience in news or advertising writing

  • Experience with publishing and driving an editorial calendar
