The Bulletin, a daily newspaper serving Central Oregon, seeks a copy editor / page designer with professional daily newspaper experience who will play a primary role in the daily production of A1 and other news sections as part of a universal desk.
The successful candidate will possess the skills to assemble a visually appealing and smart-reading section on deadline and have strong editing skills and a grasp of Associated Press style.
We seek a person who can design and edit the copy for Page 1.
We will also consider recent college graduates who have had an internship or can demonstrate their ability with examples of their work.
Other requirements include pagination skills, along with the ability to write story-selling headlines, challenge and improve both wire and local copy, and make sound news decisions.
Digital savvy is important.
Experience with newspaper page design software is required.
Experience with NewsCycle / DTI, InDesign, PhotoShop and Illustrator is preferred.
Knowledge and in interest in sports is a plus.

Position Description/Overview: Design and customize non-standard mail survey components. Create and manage survey templates. Input stored translations onto non-English survey components. Duties & Responsibilities: * Inputs translations for non-English survey materials into the Survey Translator tool. Works with translations specialists to gather translations from the appropriate databases. Documents and applies translations to survey components per specification .Quality checks forms to ensure non-English text renders correctly for both mail and online survey components. * Design difficult or unusual mail and online survey components based on information provided by client experience. Manipulate client branding materials to meet survey processing specifications. Perform quality control and testing tasks for survey components using Teleform, Survey Print, Survey Designer, and SLD Designer applications. * Works cross-functionally to complete special projects at the client, product, and platform level. Manually transfers survey components from Teleform to the Survey Design platform, performs mass product revisions, assists with the creation or revision of survey components for enterprise and other system clients, aides with system client and product audits. * Works with Product, DAR, and Client Experience to create survey templates for new and revised products. Is responsible for entire process concerning new templates, (i.e., notifying appropriate departments, making revisions to documents linked to templates, notifying appropriate departments to revise any documents linked to templates)Testing new templates to ensure quality. * Works with supervisor to create process documentation. Makes recommendations and assists internal stakeholders with questions concerning survey component creation.
