The Copy Editor will be responsible for taking written copy provided from internal stakeholders and/or our agency partner making any required copy edits, in-depth proofreading (fixing any grammatical and spelling errors), as well as ensuring all content is written in the style, tone and voice of the brand it represents. The Copy Editor will ensure all text is readable, accurate and ready for production/publication.
The work consists of a mix of B2B and Consumer in the marketing, retail, wholesale and events space. Deliverables consists of packaging, collateral, posters/signage, advertising, OOH, POP and Merchandising displays, presentations and corporate requests.
In addition, the Copy Editor will be responsible for proofing against each state's regulations and assisting in keeping the content tracker up to date. The Copy Editor will help create a guide of various agreed upon stylistic choices and treatments in an effort to promote consistencies across all deliverables.
Ideally, we are looking for a copy editor that is also fluent in Spanish that can assist in the English to Spanish translations and editing and proofing accordingly.
Copy revisions as requested by Brand stakeholders.
Interprets and understands stakeholder feedback to improve upon language, efficiency and effectiveness.
Ensures text is structured and written in accordance with each brand's style, tone and voice as outlined in the brand guidelines.
Proofreading, grammar and spelling.
Review vendor proofs against approved copy, marking up edits as required
The building of, and tracking against, a written Style Guide.
English to Spanish translation and proofing.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE
Excellent written communication skills, including good spelling and grammar.
A meticulous approach to their work with a keen eye for detail.
The ability to maintain high-quality work while meeting deadlines.
Ability to multi-task.
Fluent in Spanish verbally and written is preferred.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
BS/BA degree in related field required or equivalent professional work-related experience.
3-5 years related professional experience.
Worked in an agency setting is a plus.
Mac platform experience including Adobe InDesign and Acrobat.
MS Office experience including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Must be 21 years of age or older to apply
