Reporting to the Director of the Office of Academic Programs and Student Services, the Assessment and Admissions Coordinator will provide ongoing support for assessment activities, including data collection, assisting with the analysis of assessment methods and results and report such results to both internal and external stakeholders. The Coordinator will implement admissions, marketing and recruitment of graduate programs, representing the College at recruitment events on and off campus. The coordinator will collect, organize, and summarize retention data, graduation data, time to degree data, and course assessment data.

Evening and weekend work and overnight travel is required.

Bachelor's degree in appropriate field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Any and all degree(s) must be from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning. Strong critical thinking skills; demonstrated ability to balance multiple tasks and work well independently and collaboratively; strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to maintain sensitivity, understanding and respect for a diverse academic environment inclusive of students, faculty and staff of varying social economic, cultural, ideological and ethnic backgrounds required; good networking, relationship management, and customer skills; knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel.

Desired Qualifications

Experience with online survey software; familiarity with accreditation as it relates to assessment; Master's degree, preferably in student affairs, higher education, social sciences, statistics or a related field.

The College of Arts and Sciences is the largest college and the academic heart of the university. The College hosts 81 majors. Recommends, develops and executes new educational tools for the Department of Microbiology that will be used in lecture and lab courses that are required by Microbiology undergraduate majors, and other methods of teaching to enhance positive learning outcomes; writes and updates texts, lab protocols and other instructional materials for in-class and on-line use; Assist the Department of Microbiology in development and future implementation of a Discovery Based Microbiology Lab or Discovery Based Microbiology Lab exercises as endorsed by the American Society of Microbiology for enhanced student learning; provide developed information on undergraduate assessment data; participate as a member of the Microbiology Undergraduate Curriculum Committee and work with other staff for further improvement of Microbiology undergraduate courses and appropriate learning goals for students to improve course effectiveness; Participate with undergraduate outreach under the supervision of the Vice Chair for Undergraduate Curriculum; participate in department recruitment sessions and various related activities as needed; provide input for outreach material development as needed in collaboration with Vice Chair, Undergraduate advisor, and other microbiology teaching staff; Supervises graduate and undergraduate student assistants as needed Position will be a 60% FTE Academic Program Specialist position combined with a 40% FTE Assistant Professor position. Assist with undergraduate recruitment efforts. Serve as an ongoing member of the Microbiology Undergraduate Curriculum committee. Assist in the development of improved assessment for Microbiology Major courses. Assist in the analysis of course data and student success. Collaborate on microbiology education efforts. The 40% FTE Assistant professor duties include providing teaching and program support services within the Department of Microbiology. The focus of this position is teaching the core courses required for Microbiology undergraduate majors: General Microbiology for Majors 4100 lecture during the Summer terms; teaching the General Microbiology for Majors 4100 lab course during the Summer, Autumn, and Spring term; teaching General Microbial Physiology and Diversity 4120 course during the Spring term.
