Otterbein University is seeking a Coordinator of Urban District Initiatives.  Under the supervision of the Executive Director of Admission, responsibilities include working as an Admission Counselor and Territory Manager, actively researching and recruiting an individual territory, as well as counseling prospective students and their families on the university and the admission search process.

Manages and coordinates the daily efforts around Diversity Recruitment Initiatives to align University Enrollment goals.  This is a full-time, non-exempt position.   Some weekend hours are required.

    40% Implements a territory management recruitment model; conducts research on an individual territory to establish and maintain individual recruitment goals and objectives; using appropriate data, identifies specific and appropriate populations for enrollment; targets, visits and maintains relationships with high schools within territory  to discuss Otterbein University with prospective students, families and school personnel; travels extensively to represent the University at selected university fairs and day/night programs; plans and implements territory specific recruitment events and programs; maintains frequent contact and relationships with prospective students, parents, and other constituent groups;   provide coordination of Urban Districts Initiative; serves as liaison between Enrollment Management and Academic Affairs on initiatives to serve Columbus City School District; liaison to I Know I can; liaison to university retention initiatives for Urban District students; supervises intern.
    30% Serves as an admission counselor; presents and discusses admission requirements with students, parents and visitors to the campus seeking information and assistance; gives individual, small and large group presentations; follows up on general inquiries from student, parents and high school counselors relative to general information about the University; reviews and and manages admission applications to determine eligibility for admission; makes admissions decisions; recommends students for academic support.
    25% Supervises staff and Operations; Under the direction of the Executive  Director of Admission provides leadership and manages a team of  student Diversity Ambassadors. Manages and provides leadership to student Diversity Ambassadors to enhance the outreach and recruitment of targeted under-represented students including racially/ethnically diverse and low socio-economic within our Urban District Initiative program.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's Degree required. Experience with event planning is highly desired.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Driver's license preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must demonstrate competency in verbal and written English skills including grammar.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Must be competent in general math.

TECHNICAL SKILLS: Knowledge of general office procedures.

 Ability to use computer software and applications essential to performing job duties, as well as peripheral equipment such as printers/scanners.   Knowledge of record keeping procedures.   Must take pride in and be thorough in quality of work produced; must be able to use general office equipment including office PC, copier, telephone, facsimile machine, etc.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

 Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.   Ability to exercise a high degree of initiative and independent judgment with attention to detail.  Ability to exercise sound judgment in unusual or new situations and in dealing with confidential information.

 Must possess excellent attention to details; must be a team player and interact collegially with co-workers and other constituencies.   Must possess excellent customer service skills and enjoy having a high level of public contact.
