This position assists with coordination and supervision of the daily events and activities of the Standardized Patient-Simulation Center, on and off campus. This position will assist internal and external clientele to fulfill the needs of the program and plan future events. Responsibilities include assessing and managing problems on and off-site, monitoring quality assurance of events, promoting relationships, creating assignments, and assisting in the supervision of student workers. The Coordinator orients and organizes learners participating at program events and activities. This position is also responsible for facilitating Standardized Patient (SP) sessions and mutual communication among administration personnel, SP's, clients, and the public. This position assists in the recruitment, screening, selection, training, and evaluation of SP's. Extreme flexibility and superb interpersonal skill are required for cultivating relationships with participants, so that they will be willing to respond to the needs of the program in a variety of situations.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree or a combination of education and experience that equates to four years, related to the duties and responsibilities of the position.

Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

Demonstrated ability to accomplish assignments and projects independently, to work well as part of a team, and to exercise judgment in setting priorities.

Demonstrated positive interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.

Excellent planning and organizational skills with strong attention to detail and follow through.

Ability to travel as needed.

Ability to perform essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications

Capacity for flexibility and adaptability in different work situations.

Working knowledge of SAP and B-Line- Standardized Patient Methodology.

Duties & Responsibilities

Assists with program logistics including but not limited to coordination of daily simulation operations, events, and activities.

Assists with high fidelity simulation scenarios to include ordering supplies as needed and simulation set up.

Creates simulation scenarios using simulation programs, manikin and computer testing, and running simulation sessions as a simulation technician.

Assists with the testing of Standardized Patient (SP) simulation scenarios, evaluations, administering events, and abstracting data.

Assists with assessing the performance of SPs to assure quality and adherence to program regulations and case standards regarding role portrayal, student assessment, and appropriateness of verbal feedback to students.

Assists with validating medical students' scores on educational and assessment exercises by reviewing the students' performance and SP evaluations.

This includes assisting the manager with exam validations through inter-rater reliability and video vetting procedures.

Provides faculty with question analysis reports for exam question validity and student feedback debriefing.

Tracks and analyzes data to generate outcome-based evaluation reports on standardized patient actors.

Works cooperatively with approved programs to provide supplemental curriculum such as BLS certification, wound closure, suturing clinics, etc., as available.

Travels to Saginaw or other locations on an as needed basis.

Oversees the development of processes and procedures for effective and efficient program management.

Assists with the hiring, scheduling, timeclock approval, and overall assessment of all standardized patient actors (approx. 50-75 at any given time).
