Kennedy King College provides students with industry validated training in the construction trade and utility industries. The Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Program facility houses "state of the art" HVAC equipment, Johnson Controls, and an HVAC Laboratory, providing students with the very best training and instruction aligned with industry standards. Certificate and degree programs study the design, selection, maintenance, testing and installation of residential and commercial air conditioning, refrigeration and heating and ventilation systems, as well as business skills.

The Coordinator

• Skilled Trades Lab PT (HVAC) works with students in a lab environment to provide hands on demonstration and instruction in the installation of components and complete systems and their maintenance as part of the curriculum for HVAC certificate and degree (AAS) programs. The Coordinator

• Skilled Trades Lab PT (HVAC) demonstrates, observes, and instructs students practicing learned skills and techniques in the use of hand tools, meters, instruments, and gauges; troubleshooting and maintaining HVAC systems; and safety procedures. Also oversees the maintenance of lab equipment and tools; maintains proper inventory of supplies; and supports instructors and faculty providing classroom and lab instruction to help meet program needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Sets-up and prepares lab environment for demonstration and practice of techniques and skills in the operation of various pneumatic, electric, and electronic controls.

• Demonstrates a variety of techniques and processes relating to the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical, mechanical, and electronic components and complete systems.

• Assist instructors with lab activities for advanced laboratory courses and to supplement and ensure proper coordination with classroom instruction.

• Inspects, organizes, and checks equipment and supplies used during labs to ensure proper operating condition and proper functioning.

• Maintains inventory records of equipment and supplies; orders supplies; and maintains appropriate inventory levels.

• Reports equipment failures or in need of repair to management and takes appropriate steps to ensure safety of students and staff.

• Provides information to current and prospective students about the certificate and degree programs in the HVAC field.

• Provides additional laboratory scheduling and assists students during open lab hours for review or practice of laboratory-related aspects.
