POSITION GOAL
The Coordinator, School Safety Compliance will be responsible for administering and leading the district's compliance efforts relative to the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act and related regulatory reporting requirements. This position collaborates closely with various internal department heads, school safety and security professionals, the Florida Department of Education Office of Safe Schools, and local first responders.
ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
An earned bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
A minimum of five (5) years of work experience in managing a compliance-related function in a field related to the title of the position.
Possesses strong analytical, problem-identification and resolution skills.
Familiarity with the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act.
Prior experience supervising or leading a team.
Experience working in a complex organization requiring collaboration across multiple internal departments.
Proven ability to consistently complete multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient in presenting ideas and information in a clear and concise manner.
Proficient in computer skills as required for the position.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Prior experience working with the Office of Safe Schools and managing the compliance function of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act requirements.
Prior experience working with grant compliance.
Bilingual skills.
SIGNIFICANT CONTACTS-frequency, contact, purpose
Work extensively with all departments within the Safety, Security & Emergency Preparedness Division, and other District departments such as Choice/Charter Schools Management Support, Grants Administration, Information & Technology, Physical Plant Operations, and Finance to schedule required work.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force as needed to move objects.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the district's approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the School Board.
