JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsible for administrative, coordination and program development duties for development team based in Washington, D.C. responsible for well over 100 hours of programming per year. Overall responsibilities include providing administrative support, maintaining and updating production status information and databases, responding to blind pitch submissions, industry event and conference coordination and material creation, idea generation including creating both written and visual supporting materials, and departmental administrative tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate all development department meetings, update and maintain show status and staff assignments in database and department files. Generate and distribute PNFs as well as agendas for meetings as needed.

    Mentor department interns. Serve as interface with NGC administrative assistants based in DC and NY, and also with colleagues at NGS and NGStudios. Coordinate department office activities (e.g., office moves, furniture requests, IT troubleshooting, computer folder access, etc.).

  • Perform Production Coordinator duties for development team to streamline and improve the development pipeline from pitch to premiere. Create tracking lists for all incoming projects and track them to final decision.

    Arrange all pass notices with Director and SVP of Dev. Create files and organizational tools for tracking contacts and informion related to each program. Provide editorial research as requested.

    Liaise with other departments to make sure they have the materials they need to support our programs. Assist with developing ideas including reviewing scripts and pitches, and also creating compelling pitch and meeting materials through editing software and powerpoint and other presentation creation software.

  • In coordination with the SVP and Director of Development and Production, actively search for new development ideas to bring to the team for consideration. Also, participate in the program pitching process by attending pitch meetings, generating internal ideas, proposing new talent, generating program title ideas and generally providing additional creativity to the team and department.

    Create meetings notes for all Development meetings. Serve as the point person for reviewing blind submissions on NGCIdeas and responding promptly with feedback to independent production community. Dozens of responses required every week. Prepare written and visual presentations for senior executives and have the ability to quickly adjust priorities to provide critical materials in a timely, accurate and creative manner.

  • Maintain production unit program lists, spreadsheets, and databases. Tasks include disseminating documentation on a weekly basis, provide data summaries as required and create presentations with the data as needed.

  • Additional skills that benefit the team and the department: proficient in Word, Excel, Filemaker Pro, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project, Lotus Notes, and Outlook. Experience with FinalCut Pro or other editing software, and Photoshop, a plus.

    Excellent oral and written communication skills and professional demeanor. Incredibly task and deadline oriented and able to juggle multiple pressing assignments simultaneously. Knowledge of production and post production process, and able to make editorial suggestions that improve quality of programming. Creative, unflappable under pressure, and has a "whatever it takes" attitude.

Requirements:

  • B.A. or B.S. Minimum of one year specific in a TV environment.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required. This includes experience in and ability to give and take pitches and present shows to full Channel as new programming is rolled out. Ability to conceive of and pitch original ideas is essential.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects, team-work, and ability to take initiative to problem solve.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Explorer are needed. Knowledgeable on Final Cut Pro.

  • Demonstrated skill in developing and maintaining effective business relationships is necessary. Good organizational skills and attention to detail are required. The ability to multitask and work effectively under changing priorities and daily time constraints is required.
