The Pro Bono Coordinator will collaborate closely with the firm's Pro Bono team to provide day-to-day administrative support for the key functions of Goodwin's firmwide Pro Bono Initiative. The role requires effective communication, organizational, and prioritization skills.
What You Will Do:
Programming & Overall Management
Data Tracking, Sharing and Management
Collect and maintain up-to-date information relating to pro bono client matters (status updates), firm lawyers, pro bono program budgets, clinics, trainings, events, and awards.
Utilize document management system effectively as a central repository for Pro Bono Program files.
Generate internal reports relating to pro bono timekeepers and matters to help support pro bono staffing requests and develop performance metrics.
Collect and compile information in response to requests from external stakeholders, including pro bono referral organizations and legal industry surveys.
Programmatic Support and Communications
Provide high touch troubleshooting for internal and external questions regarding pro bono procedures and client matters.
Respond to external requests for pro bono representation.
Help coordinate information sessions, clinics, trainings, and events, including supporting the work of the firm's Neighborhood Business Initiative (NBI) Steering Committees.
Assist with maintaining and updating the Pro Bono page on the iNet.
Assist in developing and updating content for pro bono promotional materials; help maintain records of notable pro bono outcomes and awards.
Help identify inefficiencies and recommend solutions; assist team in managing priorities and agendas; work to improve the administrative functions for the Pro Bono program.
Perform other duties as necessary and assigned.
New Matter Opening & Closing
Assist with new matters
Address internal requests for opening pro bono matters by coaching stakeholders on how to open new matters through the Intapp Open portal, and at times opening new matters directly.
Manage the Intapp Open process to ensure that new matter requests are processed efficiently, and that the risk management issues are addressed properly, including, but not limited to, the conflicts check, proper staffing, and committee approval.
Help draft New Matter Request emails for the Intake Committee to consider in its approval process.
Help ensure that the engagement letters reflect the scope of the approved work and monitor receipt of engagement letters.
Assist with the matter closing process
Connect with attorneys to figure out what client matters can and should be closed.
Make sure that the risk management issues attendant with the matter management process are covered.
Help customize communications in Case Closure letters and monitor receipt of these communications.
Work with Client Accounting to close out client matters.
Who You Are:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience is required.
Relevant work experience desired.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Detail-oriented with strong organization, planning and follow-up skills.
Ability to monitor and check work product with a high attention to detail.
Be mature and have good judgment, as well as have the ability to deal with different personality types and be professional in difficult situations.
Proven abilities to work in a collegial team context, as well as to take initiative and work independently.
Ability to multi-task and adjust to rapidly changing priorities.
Be aware of stakeholders and have the ability to keep the right people informed of developments.
Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
