Job Summary:

University of Wisconsin Recreation & Wellbeing is searching for a passionate professional to join our Wellbeing team. We'll work together to move Badgers to play hard, get fit, and live well through our peer education programs.

The Coordinator of Wellbeing is a full-time employee under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Wellbeing. This position manages the development and implementation of wellbeing programs and services, including peer education, wellbeing workshops, meditation, and outreach. This person will lead the recruitment, hiring, training, scheduling, supervising and evaluation of 10-15 student peer health educators. Additionally, the position is involved in collaborating with campus partners to expand our peer wellness programs (peer education and coaching), assist in the monitoring of department budget, and serve as a representative on multiple Rec Well and campus committees.

Responsibilities:

Improves well-being of the campus community by engaging with community and campus stakeholders and using population-level data to prioritize, design, implement, and evaluate strategies to achieve measurable health improvements by creating health-supporting systems, policies, and environments.

  • 20% Gathers and evaluates population-level health data and engages with stakeholders to discern needs and interests and build capacity for population-level health improvement
  • 20% Applies evidence-based theories, frameworks, and assessments according to current health research and practice
  • 20% Develops, implements, organizes, and evaluates population-health initiatives based on sound data, theory, and evidence
  • 20% Provides consultation, training, and capacity-building resources for stakeholders to advance a health-promoting setting with respect to policies, learning and working environments, physical spaces, services and support, student development, and/or opportunities for social connectedness
  • 10% Manages the development and implementation of wellbeing programs and services, including but not limited to: peer education, wellbeing workshops, meditation, and outreach.
  • 10% Recruits, hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates student peer wellness educators along with limited term employees.

Education:

Required:

Bachelor's degree required in the field of health and/or wellness (e.g. community health, public health, kinesiology, nutrition, recreation)

Preferred:

Master's Degree preferred in Public Health, Health Education, Health Promotion, or related field.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • At least one (1) year of professional experience in a health promotion setting, such as program planning and implementation of wellbeing programs. Relevant graduate assistantships and internships may be considered equivalent to one year of professional experience.

Preferred:

  • NASPA Certified Peer Educator Trainer or completion within six months of hire

  • Experience in peer education

  • Supervision of student staff

  • Experience teaching academic courses related to health/wellness

  • Knowledge and application of health behavior theory and health equity

  • Skills in program development and evaluation

Work Type:

Full Time: 100%

This position requires most work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location, up to one day per week, if desired.

Salary:

Minimum $53,000 ANNUAL (12 months)

Depending on Qualifications

The starting salary for the position is $53,000. Actual salary will be based on experience and qualifications.
