The Coordinator of Tutoring and Computer Lab Services at Pikes Peak State College supports the Associate Vice President of Academic Resources in organizing, scheduling, and managing tutoring and computer lab operations across multiple campuses. At the direction of the Associate Vice President this position oversees tutoring services including, tutoring centers, Lead Tutors, tutors, student staff, and workspaces. This position also oversees the computer lab spaces which are a part of the Tutoring Centers. This position works collaboratively with faculty and other instructional partners to support student learning and instructional needs and to ensure that innovative practices are meeting the needs of students and faculty. This position ensures that these operations are performed in an efficient and productive manner. In addition, this position oversees tutoring and computer lab budgets, works in collaboration with other Academic Resources partners, and may supervise full and part time, classified, APT, and student staff.

Work schedule may include days, nights, and weekend shifts and travel to multiple campuses.

The college offers the possibility for alternative work arrangements such as flexplace, remote work, or flextime scheduling upon completion of training and department needs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completed bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.

  • Three years of professional level experience working in a secondary or post-secondary learning environment.

  • One year of supervisory experience.

Professional level experience is defined by the Colorado Division of Human Resources: A position that involves the exercise of discretion, analytical skill, judgment, personal accountability, and responsibility for creating, developing, integrating, applying, or sharing an organized body of knowledge. Colorado revised statute (C.R.S. 24-50-135(1) allows colleges to exempt positions from the State Personnel Classified System that are determined to be professional level work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completed Master's degree in Student Affairs and Higher Education Leadership, Organizational Development, Teaching, or a related academic field.

  • Experience working in a college Learning Commons, and or Tutoring Center environment.

  • Experience working with budgets to include planning, purchasing, and tracking.

  • Two or more years of supervisory experience.

Essential Functions

  • Supervise operations of the Tutoring Centers and Computer Labs.

  • Recruit, hire, and train tutors and Lead Tutors for a breadth of academic programs and courses.

  • Manage Center and Lab scheduling to ensure all hours of operation are staffed.

  • Supervise full and part-time support staff.

  • Market/publicize the Center's and Lab's services to students, faculty, and staff.

  • Co-facilitate the Faculty Advisory Committee for the Learning Commons.

  • Identify, collect, and report on data that impacts services to students.

  • Identify processes and best practices that reach underserved populations with tutoring services.

  • Recruit bilingual tutors and lead tutors.

  • Represent the associate vice president and the division as requested at institutional and Community College of Colorado System events and meetings.

  • Maintain budget oversight for tutor and Lead Tutor payroll as well as marketing and supply needs.

  • Provide updated and meaningful training to Learning Commons, and coaching staff.

  • Support the supervision and hiring of staff (including student staff).

  • Collect and use important and informative data with regard to Learning Commons usage.

  • Understands the community college student learning needs and experienced in working with individuals from diverse ethnic, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.

  • Able to assess and develop standards and best practices for a variety of instructional and reference circumstances.

  • Able to collaborate with others to develop standards and best practices for a variety of instructional and reference circumstances.

  • Interpersonal communication skills are professional, inclusive, and supportive of the learning commons mission.

  • Understands theory and application of information literacy principles to instructional environments.

  • Proactively problem-solves concerns and challenges; able to apply positive and flexible solutions to department challenges.

  • Demonstrated effective written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
