Job Summary:

Works with reference lab testing sending samples out to other labs. Also perform various hematology and/or chemistry automated, semi-automated and manual procedures as defined by the CP Core Lab procedure manual. Will assume responsibility as primary operator of reference lab methods regarding troubleshooting, supply inventory, procedures, and training of staff in conjunction with supervisor/coordinator.

Minimum Qualifications:

NYS licensed to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist, Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or Bachelor's degree of Science and 6 years of clinical laboratory experience focusing in Hematology and/or Chemistry required. Ability to distinguish colors required.

Responsibilities include: research, design and execute complex experiments; perform flow cytometry, agarose and polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, Western blotting, and other molecular biological techniques, analysis and immunoblotting; will include euthanization of mice and handling and dissection of mouse tissues. Record, analyze and prepare data for publication, communicate with investigators to coordinate experiments and exchange information, order supplies, write reports necessary for grants and publications, and perform other administrative duties. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline and two years experience in a research laboratory required, preferably in molecular biology with HPLC and immunology experience. Individual must be able to work independently, be responsible and self-motivated.
