Job Description:

SUNY Delhi seeks a dynamic, forward thinking, and engaging Coordinator of the Multicultural Center to the join the Center for Student Leadership & Engagement. SUNY Delhi prides itself on being a welcoming college community for all. The Coordinator of the Multicultural Center is a 12-month position. This position supports retention for, and provides support to, students from diverse backgrounds, with special emphasis on enriching the experiences of Black and Hispanic men. This position also works with and supports existing faculty/staff in providing diversity, equity and inclusion educational opportunities for the SUNY Delhi campus community, working with various multicultural-based student organizations, and also works collaboratively with campus departments. Occasional nights and weekends are required and if needed, the employees schedule may be "flexed" contingent upon Director's approval.

Position Description:

  • Oversee and coordinate daily operations of the Multicultural Center (MOSIAC), including supervising student employees. Maintain a welcoming, active, and inclusive atmosphere for all students.

  • Provide outreach to students with special emphasis of underrepresented populations (including but not limited to: Men of Color, Women of Color, LBGTQIA+, and LatinX).

  • Advise and mentor multicultural student organizations connected to MOSIAC.

  • Develop outreach workshops and marketing to advance MOSAIC's mission campus wide.

  • Initiate and implement creative, positive, educational, social, and developmental multicultural activities focusing on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Social Justice programs for all students.

  • Assist with planning and implementation of student leadership development and training programs for student leaders.

  • Assist with planning and event management for large scale multicultural events on campus, including but not limited to Lavendar Graduation, Kente Graduation, Men of Color Summit, an Annual Diversity Banquet.

  • Enhance, oversee, and evaluate Men of Distinction Academy (adult and peer mentorship program for men of color) while coordinating skill building and strength-based strategies to support student success among men of color.

  • Collaborate with the Department of Residence Life in the continued development of a Living Learning Community (LLC) for the SUNY Delhi's Men of Color Leadership & Academic Excellence Initiative.

  • Assist the Department of Residence life with selection and training of the Student Coordinator for Diversity and Inclusion that are designated in the initiatives Living Learning Community.

  • Lead assessment development and data collection for MOSIAC.

  • Connect with the Chief Diversity Officer and serve as a point person to multicultural efforts.

  • Serve as a member of the Equity Council and the Racial Equity Justice Institute, along with additional campus committees as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • At least 2 years of experience in either multicultural affairs, and/or student activities or related programs

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

  • Ability to be self-motivated, and proficient at handling multiple priorities

  • Valid drivers license, with an acceptable driving record at the time of appointment
