Joseph J. Peters Institute (JJPI) is a leading specialized provider of trauma treatment services and forensic behavioral health services in the Philadelphia region. JJPI serves children, adolescents and adult survivors of trauma; adolescents and adults with a history of problem sexual behavior; and adults with a history of relational violence. JJPI provides evidence-based and evidence-informed assessment and treatment to child, adolescent, and adult survivors of sexual, interpersonal, and other forms of trauma at our Broad Street location and individuals with sexual behavior problems and/or relational violence histories at our Chestnut Street location.

The Coordinator of Survivor Services provides clinical and administrative leadership for JJPI's Survivor Services program, which serves around 1,000 clients per year. The Coordinator directs a multidisciplinary team of professionals delivering evidence-based practices to aid child, adolescent, and adult survivors of traumatic experiences to recover and heal. This position works intensively in the realm of trauma treatment and in evidence-based practices specific to trauma including TF-CBT, PE, and DBT. The position reports to the Director of Survivor and Community-Based Services (DSCBS).

Clinical and Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall direction & oversight of outpatient treatment programs at JJPI's Survivor Services Program under supervision of the DSCBS.

  • Provides weekly group administrative/clinical supervision to Survivor Services outpatient treatment clinical staff.

  • Supervises JJPI's full-time employees who serve as clinicians/therapists.

  • In concert with other supervisors/managers, provides oversight of graduate students who provide outpatient treatment services. Provides direct observation of students' and clinicians' treatment, including, as appropriate, the use of audio or video samples of sessions.

  • Provides and documents regular individual and group administrative/clinical supervision/consultation to individual Survivor Services clinicians, including contracting clinicians.

  • Assists clinicians in issues pertaining to emergency and complicated case situations.

  • Promotes an atmosphere of support and constructive feedback to enhance staff professional growth consistent with JJPI's organizational values.

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable guidelines.

  • Serves in a leadership capacity in the development of a cohesive, supportive, and productive clinical team devoted to the delivery of the highest quality clinical services.

  • Seeks to meet 100% of Survivor outpatient treatment services productivity standards and goals.

  • Ensures Survivor Services clinical records meet agency, stakeholder, and licensing requirements in collaboration with the DSCBS. Periodically audits and

  • Provides training and consultation services to outside agencies upon request.

  • Provides on-call emergency case management coverage for a week at a time on a rotating basis with other management staff about every eight weeks.

  • Provides evening supervisory coverage at the clinic one evening per week.

  • Maintains a small caseload of participants as allowed by available hours. Ensures the following guidelines are met for caseload participants:

  • Completes Initial Resiliency/Treatment Plan Review within the first two visits of client contact.

  • Completes updated Resiliency/treatment plans every 180 days or earlier if clinically indicated.

  • Completes progress notes within 24 hours of session with client.

  • Follows up appropriately with clients and/or caregivers who have missed a session.

  • Completes discharge summary within 7 days of termination date.

  • Completes and provide statistical reports (case management and clinical hours) at the end of each week/pay period.

  • Completes all forms required for billing of services in a timely manner.

  • Identifies and tracks appropriate quality improvement areas on a monthly basis.

Administrative and Organizational Responsibilities:

  • Works closely with Intake and evaluation staff and supervisors and with the case management department to ensure timely assignment of cases to clinicians. Follows up with case management when the clinic has a waiting list to provide updates to individuals who have completed intakes but are not yet assigned to a clinician.

  • With DSCBS, posts open positions, interviews, hires, and orients new clinicians. Monitors need for staff in a proactive way and takes steps to make sure that sufficient clinicians are hired.

  • Monitors flow of new participants and ensures that required case closing paperwork is completed for participants no longer receiving services.

  • Provides leadership of and oversight over JJPI's student intern clinical training program, which trains up to 10 clinicians per year. Includes overseeing the interview process for applicants, supporting orientation and providing ongoing supervision, and helping to oversee JJPI's didactic training series.

  • Monitors and provides supervision for all clinicians to make sure that they are following procedures for required paperwork, participant follow-up and contact, etc. Formally evaluates staff performance against established criteria to clarify/document performance expectations, strengths, and developmental needs, recommends activities for improvement, and exercises progressive discipline when necessary.

  • Understands the impact of caseload requirements on the financial performance of the agency and upholds utilization expectations within the program.

  • Monitors clinician caseloads and ensures productivity targets are consistently met. Follows up with clinicians to ensure appropriate action is taken when variance from required utilization or other procedures are not being followed.

  • Understands the payment source of each client as evidenced by making sure staff are obtaining and documenting information needed to bill responsible patty.

  • Develops and implements new, innovative service strategies.

  • Develops and maintains professional relationships with other agencies and with PHMC programs and affiliates. Consults and coordinates with other organizations, government entities, and professionals to positively influence policy and practices in the assessment and treatment of trauma survivors.

  • Participates in scheduled management and supervisor meetings.

  • Consults with executive team members concerning agency direction, strategic planning, and program implementation and service delivery.

  • Collaborates with other JJPI program administrators to improve agency-wide service delivery.

  • Coordinates and facilitates all designated aspects of assigned program implementation and development.

  • Oversees the performance and documentation of review of a portion of outpatient Survivor charts each quarter.

  • Promotes the organization in interactions with other agencies and professionals.

  • Participates in marketing and strategic planning for the agency as required.

  • Supports and takes an active role in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion projects/movement at JJPI

  • Membership/Participation in at least one agency committee (i.e., sunshine, DEI, etc.)

  • Experience:

  • Five or more years of post-degree related clinical experience, at least one year experience as an administrator.

  • Significant clinical experience with survivors of sexual, interpersonal or other forms of trauma.

  • Education Requirement:

  • A master's or doctoral degree in psychology/ social work.

  • Licensed as psychologist, LCSW, LPC, or LMFT in Pennsylvania

Current evidence-based practices available at JJPI include TF-CBT, DBT, PE, EMDR, and PSB-CBT. Clinical services are provided via telehealth and in person. This position comes with a sign-on bonus.
