The Coordinator of Student Life assists in the planning, development and management of a broad spectrum of inclusive, collaborative and interdisciplinary based programs and campus events to support a community of professionally active and involved graduate and professional students. The Coordinator provides guidance and direction to graduate and professional student organizations. This position requires the ability to develop positive relationships with a broad range of professional based students.

Responsibilities

Programming

  • Assist in the coordination planning, marketing and execution of signature campus/university events (i.e. resource fair, graduate and professional student appreciation week, On the Town and Coffee Connections events, Graduate and Professional Student Appreciation Week, etc.).

  • Assists in the planning, marketing, implementation, administration, monitoring and evaluation of a comprehensive schedule of Campus-wide programming initiatives in accordance with student interests, departmental and institutional mission and objectives and University Strategic Plan.

  • Provide assistance, support, advisement and learning opportunities to graduate and professional student organization leaders, in the execution of programs and events.

  • Supervise on-site programs and activities, including night and weekend programs.

  • Serve as a resource to faculty and staff colleagues in campus event planning and curricular/co- curricular partnerships.

  • Assist with planning and implementation of Graduate and Professional Student Orientation and Welcome events and additional programming for entering students.

  • Assist in the development and administration of student professional development and leadership activities to enhance personal and professional competencies.

  • Maintain, monitor and coordinate Presence platform with student organizations.

  • Work with student organizations, serving as a resource in the areas of risk management, contracting, event approval, collaboration, accountability, leadership development, budgeting, student organization fundraising, etc.

  • Serve as administrative liaison with student organizations and faculty/staff advisors. Maintains contact with student organizations and advisors to ensure continuity of programs.

Administrative

  • Intentionally seek out collaborative and interdisciplinary opportunities with other university departments.

  • Utilize email, social networking sites and other new media opportunities to promote student life and activities to the campus/University. Maintain social media accounts for the unit.

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of unit website/webpage content and the creation, content and visual design of electronic newsletters and other electronic methods information delivery to students as well as the development of departmental publications.

  • Monitor event budgets and ensure compliance with University fiscal policies and procedures.

  • Request and negotiate contracts with vendors/students to plan events and services; manage process in line with institutional protocols

  • Assist in the development of strategic goals and objectives in accordance with department, University and division strategic priorities.

  • Serve as a student advisor or committee member on conduct related matters.

  • Other duties as assigned in accordance with departmental, divisional and institutional needs and goals.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree required, Master's degree preferred. Professional experience in activity-related programming (orientation, student organizations, student programming), or a combination of education and experience from which comparable skills and knowledge are acquired.

  • Previous experience in working with graduate/professional students desired

  • Ability to work evening and weekend as necessary.

  • Demonstrated organizational, administrative, and budget skills

  • Knowledge and experience in social media use and application

  • Strong oral, written, interpersonal communication and customer service skills.

  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work demands with an attention to detail.

  • Ability to deal effectively with a wider range of individuals and groups within and outside the University.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team with enthusiasm, initiative and creativity.

  • Experience in working in Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe, PowerPoint and social media applications.
