JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Coordinator of Professional Development, Blended Learning, and Media performs duties associated with the planning and operation of district wide professional development, implementation of digital and online learning options. The position includes collaboration and support of related K-12 curriculum and instruction initiatives, including implementing personalized learning opportunities for schools and students, coordination of the RCSVA (RCS Virtual Academy), the NCVPS (NC Virtual Public School) courses, and other online learning options. The position also coordinates and leads school level media coordinators, teacher leadership efforts in the area of blended learning including digital learning, schoolnet, and personalized learning. Additional responsibilities include supervision and evaluation of employees within the curriculum and instruction department. The position requires strong leadership, technology, communication and collaboration skills. This position also oversees grants associated with district blended/digital learning and other Curriculum & Instruction opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Possess Degree and NC Licensure as a teacher, administrator, media specialist, or a school counselor. Master's Degree in instructional technology or school administration preferred.

  • Experience in managing a school or district-level program, which includes training and developing professional development plans.

  • Strong knowledge of curriculum to assist with understanding the relevance of curriculum standards as it relates in a digital and blended environment.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively both in written and verbal forms.

  • Experience in teacher/staff training with groups of 20-40 people.

  • Strong technology skills as related to blended learning and digital content and delivery.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attend state and regional curriculum and digital teaching and learning meetings and trainings.

  • Coordinating the completion and submission of state Digital Learning and Media Inventory (DLMI).

  • Inform district and school leadership on NCDPI decisions, requirements and processes associated with blended learning, digital learning, professional development and media.

  • Develop and implement blended learning options for the district to include the continuation of micro credentialing and badging.

  • Manage the district media inventory system (Destiny).

  • Manage the Homebase / Schoolnet components for curricular programming including benchmarks, and other common assessments.

  • Assist district in understanding, creating and implementing school and district Digital Teaching and Learning Plan.

  • Train and support school media coordinators, instructional coaches and teachers with specific C&I professional development.

  • Train and support schools with HomeBase resources including Schoolnet and other instructional materials that impact formative assessment.

  • Train and support schools with professional development options including Homebase resources, NCEES, PTEC and out of district options to assist with continuing education units for license renewal.

  • Approve district and school level professional development for CEU credits.

  • Co-facilitate training and supporting schools with the implementation of CASA (professional learning communities).

  • Co-facilitate with Lead K-5 and Lead Secondary Teachers to maintain and update district pacing guide site

  • Co-facilitate organizing curriculum adoption processes within the district.

  • Co-facilitate coordination with high school counselors and assist with the registration process for Career & College Promise (CCP) courses.

  • Co-facilitate organization, maintenance and webmaster support for District Website and school level websites.

  • Co-facilitate district special events including Battle of the Books, ACC, etc.

  • Collaborate with the RCS Technology and other RCS Departments on district efforts: technology distribution, eRate, digital citizenship, fixed assets, needs assessments.

  • Manage the district wide Learning Management System (LMS) accounts, including troubleshooting issues and creating courses.

  • Manage other online media and curriculum accounts.

  • Manage APEX course recovery, NCSSM, NCVPS and RCS Virtual Academy accounts.

  • Manage district wide materials and ensure the security of these materials.

  • Conduct school visits and walk through visits with other curriculum department members.

  • Assist with evaluating and supervising district employees

  • Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent for K-12 Curriculum & Instruction
