SUMMARY:
The Coordinator of Multilingual Programming will have a deep commitment to equity and to the academic success and linguistic development of English learners in the district's multilingual programming. This leader will collaborate with administrators, teachers, parents, and community stakeholders to ensure effective programming for multilingual learners. Successful candidates will have a passion for instructional leadership, curriculum development and coordination, and supervising and growing equitable instructional programs and culturally responsive practices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive English learner education within multilingual programs aligned with state and federal guidelines.
Support the department in compliance related items including but not limited to EL Cumulative Folder Records, updating student databases, and coordinating ACCESS testing in multilingual programs.
Design curriculum materials, instructional resources, and assessment tools tailored to the diverse needs of multilingual students.
Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations and guidelines.
Plan and facilitate professional development workshops and training sessions for teachers and staff to enhance their capacity to support multilingual learners.
Provide ongoing supervision and feedback to educators on best practices for language instruction, differentiation, and culturally responsive teaching.
Stay up-to-date on research and emerging trends in English learner education and programming to inform district initiatives.
Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to multilingual learner progress, language proficiency, and academic achievement.
Utilize assessment data to identify areas for improvement, track student growth, and make data-driven decisions regarding instructional interventions and programmatic changes.
Monitor compliance with language proficiency assessments and reporting requirements mandated by federal and state regulations.
Support teachers and colleagues in fostering positive relationships with multilingual families and community organizations to promote collaboration and support.
Advocate for the needs of multilingual learners within the school or district administration, advocating for resources, staffing, and policies that prioritize their success.
Participate in the district Instructional Leadership Team and other relevant committees to share expertise, resources, and best practices.
Collaborate to develop effective monitoring systems for students on EL Success Plans and Former English Learners.
Support coordination of the PreK identification process and PreK/Kindergarten monitoring for current English learners.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Qualifications:
A demonstrated commitment to: equity for multilingual students and anti-racist practices; using feedback to refine and elevate performance; using asset-based language and assessment practices .
Knowledge of second language acquisition theory, culturally responsive pedagogy, and instructional strategies for English learners.
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
A minimum of 5 years teaching experience in public education with at least 3 of those years in the area of English Language Learner Education
Demonstrated knowledge of state and federal laws and requirements for ELL programs
A minimum of a Master's Degree in an appropriate field
MA DESE issued subject matter certification in English as a second Language (PreK-6) and (5-12)
MA DESE issued subject matter certification as a Supervisor/Director-Non-Core (level depends on prerequisite license)
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent or designee may find appropriate and acceptable
Successful completion of Criminal Records Check (CORI), and fingerprints
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated ability in preparing grant proposals
Demonstrated ability in working with parent and community based groups
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with building administrators with regard to program implementation.
Valid certification to administer state adopted assessments
Fluency in a language other than English, particularly Portuguese or Spanish.
Experience living in a county other than the United States
WORK YEAR:
10 months - 200 work days (180 + 10 days before school starts & 10 days following last day of school)
