REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent for K-12 Curriculum and Instruction
Collaborates with: Director of Federal Programs, Director of Elementary Schools, Director of Secondary Schools
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Beginning Date of Employment - 03/1/2024; State Salary Schedule, Regular State Benefits; Local Supplement, 12 Month Position
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Coordinator of K-12 Instructional Programs performs duties associated with the planning and operation of district wide K-12 programs associated within the curriculum and instruction department. The position requires collaboration and support of related K-12 curriculum and instruction initiatives, including implementing district wide events: Science Fairs, Academic Challenge Competitions, Governor's School Applications, Credit by Demonstrated Mastery, Advanced Placement (AP) Training, International Baccalaureate Programs, and Career and College Promise opportunities. The position also coordinates and leads school level AIG Programs and other gifted student programs. The position collaborates with the Director of Federal Programs in the coordination of learning programs to support our ESL/MultiLingual Learner students and our Migrant Students. The coordinator will manage the SPLASH Program and the participating schools. Additional responsibilities include supervision and evaluation of employees within the curriculum and instruction department. The Coordinator will support CASA training at the school level; and organize and lead curriculum adoptions and pacing guide updates. The position requires strong leadership, technology, communication, and collaboration skills. This position also assists with grants associated with our federal programs and other district initiated grant applications.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Possess Degree and NC Licensure as a teacher, administrator, AIG specialist, or a school counselor. Master's Degree in Curriculum and instruction, instructional technology or school administration preferred.
Experience in managing a school or district-level program, which includes training and developing professional development plans.
Strong knowledge of curriculum to assist with understanding the relevance and implementation of curriculum standards.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively both in written and verbal forms.
Experience in teacher/staff training with groups of 20-40 people.
Strong technology skills as related to digital learning content and delivery.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Attend state and regional and district curriculum meetings and trainings.
Inform district and school leadership on NCDPI and district decisions, requirements and processes associated with
AIG
English as Second Language / Multilingual Learners
Migrant Education
SPLASH / Language Immersion Programs
Credit by Demonstrated Mastery
Advanced Placement and IB Programs
Career & College Promise
Special Events: Science Fair, Academic Challenge Competitions, Governor's School, etc.
Develop and Implement AIG District Plan for the district to include the identification and services provided.
Manage budget resources associated with AIG and other C&I initiatives.
Manage the AIG DataMart components for AIG Eligibility including initial placements.
Assist schools in understanding and implementing the school/district AIG plan.
Train and support school AIG teachers, instructional coaches, and teachers with selected professional development.
Manage the SPLASH program including the recruitment and selection process at participating schools
Co-facilitate training and supporting schools with the implementation of CASA (professional learning communities).
Co-facilitate with Lead K-5 and Lead Secondary Teachers to maintain and update district pacing guide site
Co-facilitate organizing curriculum adoption processes within the district.
Co-facilitate coordination with high school counselors and assist with the registration process for Career & College Promise (CCP) courses.
Manage district wide materials and resources and ensure the security of these materials.
Conduct school visits and walk through visits with other curriculum department members.
Assist with evaluating and supervising district employees.
Supervises the Lead AIG Teacher
Collaborates with the Director of Federal Programs, Lead Migrant Teacher and Lead ESL Teacher.
Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent for K-12 Curriculum & Instruction.
