Coachella Valley Unified School District has a large Latino and English Learner population that has made tremendous improvements in student achievement in the past few years. We are proud of the accomplishments of our students, teachers, staff, parents and the community that has made that achievement possible.

Our district faces some very tough challenges in educating the children of the Coachella Valley.

We remain convinced that we can and will continue to improve our educational outcomes so that more of our students go on to college and become respected and respectful members of our diverse global society. Education is the ticket to the future and we are working diligently to make sure that we provide students with opportunities to excel and to prosper.

A Coordinator of English Learner (EL) and Long-Term English Learner (LTEL; 5 or more years identified as an EL) programs serves in fostering the educational experiences and supports the balance of social-emotional wellness of ELS and LTELs students within an Academic Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS). They orchestrate tailored programs, collaborating with educators, counselors, and community stakeholders to design interventions that address academic gaps and challenges specific to EL and LTEL students. The EL/LTEL Coordinator provides the direction of English Language Development (ELD) and identifies Designated and Integrated ELD scheduling throughout all CVUSD schools.

The EL/LTEL Coordinator works to analyzing data on student performance and coordinates the efforts among school staff and external partners that create a cohesive approach to the support needed for all EL and LTEL students. The EL/LTEL Coordinator actively engages EL/LTEL families by providing them with resources, guidance, and advocacy to navigate the education system effectively. Ultimately, their role is pivotal in creating an inclusive and supportive environment where migrant students can thrive academically and emotionally.
