Primary Purpose:
Provide leadership and coordination to facilitate effective elementary curriculum and instructional programs that support student success and are aligned to district goals.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Master's degree in education administration or education
Texas Mid-Management or Principal Certificate, preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of professional learning communities and in teams
Working knowledge of state standards and curriculum alignment
Knowledge and experience implementing best practices in instruction
Experience in analyzing and interpreting a variety of data sources for the purpose of program evaluation and teaching effectiveness
Demonstrated effectiveness in classroom instruction and management
Ability to work well and in a positive manner with staff, students, and public
Ability to use computer software to develop spreadsheets, databases, and do word processing
Working knowledge of current research and resources related to district and site-based goals, staff development, and group processes
Previous experience working with adult learners
Evidence of a dedication to the practice of life-long learning
Excellent organizational, communication, time management, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
Five (5) years experience as a classroom teacher, required
Three (3) years experience in an instructional leadership role, preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional and Program Management
Assist in the systematic review, development, and revision of instructional programs and related curriculum documents and materials.
Work cooperatively and maintain intentional two-way feedback with campus principals, teachers, and departmental staff to implement and monitor effective instructional programs.
Obtain and use evaluative findings (including student achievement data) to examine curriculum and instruction program effectiveness.
Coordinate the adoption process and use of elementary instructional aids and materials.
Actively assist others in developing a familiarity with, and achievement of, the district's instructional goals and objectives.
Provide formal and informal assessment support to teachers; assist in developing effective methods to monitor the progress of all students, and offer suggestions for interventions where needed.
Monitor compliance with and assist campuses in successful implementation of assigned state or local instructional initiatives.
Staff Development
Plan and/or provide staff development for teachers, administrators, and staff as assigned.
Disseminate information regarding current research and significant developments on the state and national levels.
Provide informal, ongoing professional development to teachers at point of need.
Provide formal, ongoing professional development as requested by campus or district administration.
Other
Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with district and campus leaders, staff, and stakeholders.
Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly, including the district's mission, instructional philosophy, and curricular program information.
Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies.
Contribute to district-level decision-making as related to elementary curriculum and instruction; ensure that measurable goals and objectives are developed utilizing feedback and collaboration.
Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
