Coordinator of Counseling Practicums and Internships
Part-Time (20 hours)
Cairn University's School of Liberal Arts and Sciences is seeking to fill the part-time, year-round position of Coordinator of Counseling Practicums and Internships. This position reports directly to Chair of Counseling and Psychology. This is a part-time position with work hours of approximately 20 hours per week. The work schedule will be determined by the Chair of Counseling and Psychology.

Position Summary
The Coordinator of Counseling Practicums and Internships is responsible to facilitate placement of counseling students for practicum and internship experiences with one or more cooperative counseling organizations. The Coordinator serves as a liaison between Counseling faculty, students, and partnering internship sites (including Cairn's Oasis Counseling Center) to ensure that these student experiences meet the academic and experiential standards of the University.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Identify Christian organizations which provide, or have an interest in providing, counseling to their constituents, to introduce Cairn's counseling internship program. (Such organizations may include churches, private counseling practices, women's shelters, urban ministries, mental health facilities, pregnancy centers, residential care facilities and the like.)
Nurture contacts made, establishing partnerships with organizations willing to provide practicums and internships to counseling students.
Coordinate placement of students with partnering organizations through a process of evaluation of the students' interests, locations and abilities, and by coordinating interviews.
Shepherd students through the practicum and internship programs, coordinating supervision from on-site and faculty resources.
Create and implement a follow-up program to assess student performance as well as the value of the internship provided, both from the student's and partnering organization's viewpoint.
Perform necessary administrative tasks required to maintain visit schedules, evaluations, assessments and credential requirements.
Act as liaison between students, counseling faculty, and representatives of partnering organizations to ensure that the program operates in a positive, cooperative manner.
Develop licensure preparation plan for interns completing internships.
Complete projects as assigned by the Chair.
Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of word processing and other computer-related skills including Excel, Powercampus, eLearning, etc.
Knowledge of English grammar and composition.
Ability to communicate the counseling program effectively and enthusiastically.
Ability to establish key contacts and maintain positive relationships.
Ability to balance detailed work and people orientation.
Ability to work well with a diverse group of faculty, staff and students.
Ability to resolve conflicts with tact and efficiency.
Strong organizational skills.
