Title: Coordinator of Continuing Professional Education

LIU Pharmacy is seeking an outstanding individual with exceptional administrative, strategic, and interpersonal skills to join the College of Pharmacy's team as the Coordinator of Continuing Professional Education. The individual will be a thought leader who will further extend LIU Pharmacy's reach and impact through innovations in online and in-person professional education. This person will report directly to the Director of Continuing Education. Responsibilities for this position include administrative, operational, and programmatic oversight for professional continuing education for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians and custom programs, adult pedagogy, outreach, and collaboration for the delivery of existing online programs and development and sustainability of programs. LIU Pharmacy's Department of Continuing Professional Education serves pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in advancing their continuing professional development by providing live and web-based continuing professional education (CPE) activities. Our in-person live CPE activities are expected to be available at convenient locations in the New York City metropolitan area. Participants are nation-wide and participation in these live offerings affords valuable networking occasions in addition to advancing your professional development. Our on-demand web-based CPE activities are available whenever and wherever there is an internet connection.

Job Duties: The Coordinator of Continuing Professional Education will be responsible for overseeing all the activities of the Department, including live and home study activities. The coordinator will:

  • Work with the Director of Continuing Education to define and implement the strategic vision, goals, and short- and long-term plans for online and professional education in collaboration with other key stakeholders;

  • Drive significant expansion of LIU Pharmacy's online and professional education catalog, anticipating and meeting the needs of a wide range of learners in New York, regionally, and globally; Travel to local pharmacies in the NYC and Long Island Area to recruit clients. Reach out to potential businesses and pharmacy organizations to build clients.

  • Direct all facets of online delivery at LIU Pharmacy, including strategic planning of sustainable programs, budgeting, operations, and data collection and assessment through the use of our website https://pharmce.liu.edu/

  • Create evaluation and assessment methods for professional education programs to determine quality and the effectiveness of transferring knowledge and skills for practical application in the workplace.

  • Uphold ACPE quality standards for teaching and learning in an online and professional education. Help prepare documentation for ACPE audits when necessary.

  • Work with the Director of Continuing Education to actively seek educational grants to incorporate innovative ideas and implementations in online and in- person activities for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.

  • Coordinate with partners on campus who are developing and providing continuing education and lifelong learning opportunities.

  • Fill out budget reports and ensure the program is meeting budget expectations

  • Be available for evening and weekend Continuing Education programs to facilitate and take attendance. Attend events that are being held by clients when needed. This includes any events outside of NY.

  • Address any client complaints via email or phone.

  • Attend weekly/monthly meetings with the Director of Continuing Education to strategize. Meetings take place on Brooklyn Campus.

Skills desired: The ideal candidate will be a strategic, collaborative, and entrepreneurial team player and visionary who has experience in growing and improving programs for adult learners and organizations. This candidate will have demonstrated experience in online, live-remote, face-to-face, and customized delivery. A well-qualified candidate will be someone who is well organized and will be someone with administrative experiences.

Required Qualifications:*

  • 5+ years in administrative leadership roles

  • A strong vision for and understanding of market-driven continuing education activities.

  • Knowledge of adult learners and experience with technology-enhanced learning and teaching.

  • Knowledge of strategic planning and demonstrated success with the development of high quality online and professional programs.

  • Knowledge of and experience with issues and challenges of online learning for students and faculty.

  • Networker and Relationship Creator - Enjoys networking and building relationships with faculty and academic leaders and with external stakeholders. Able to successfully influence, build credibility, and collaborate with a diverse community of stakeholders to develop and deliver innovative programs and services from the College.
