Information on the Department:

The Office of Community Service provides opportunities for students to discover the possibilities and rewards that accompany service. Our goal is to educate students about social issues, the impact these issues have on people and communities, and to partner with community-based organizations to work toward solutions.

Job Description:

This person is responsible for managing Lesley University's community service initiatives, including community service programs, projects, and partnerships. They advise students, promote leadership skills, and support development of community service activities. This person singlehandedly oversees the operation of the Office of Community Service, including program planning, marketing, and outreach. Supervise undergraduate and graduate student assistants.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop and lead community service programs, projects, and partnerships.

  • Cultivate partnerships with local community organizations to identify service opportunities that meet needs of organizations and provide learning opportunities for students.

  • Manage co-curricular community service programs, including R.E.A.L. Community Service Retreat, Community Service Week, Community Service Fair, Summer Corps of Service, and others.

  • Oversee America Reads and Cambridge Math Volunteers program, including serving as liaison with school site coordinator, and hiring and supervising student tutors.

  • Provide leadership training to develop students' skills, advise student community service leaders, and expand opportunities for student leadership in community service.

  • Promote the Office of Community Service's programs through e-newsletter, social media, posters, and brochures.

  • Represent the Office of Community Service at events for current and prospective students and alumni.

  • Produce weekly and monthly reports of data on student participation in community service and write annual report.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • One to two years related experience.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills, and ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

  • Ability to build partnerships with many constituencies, including community organizations, students, and staff.

  • Experience using Microsoft Office (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).

  • Must be available and willing to work some evenings and weekends.

  • Occasional use of personal auto for travel related to this position required: An employee who drives their own vehicle for 2 - 9 or more days (either full or partial days) per month, or an employee who drives their own vehicle while on company business 100 - 499 miles or more per month.

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States; if you hold a visa, your visa status must allow you to work at Lesley University.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with college students to promote engagement and leadership development.

Additional Information:

Salary Grade 24: $50,135 - $59,662
