Job Description:

The Coordinator of College for Living, under the direction of the Director, is responsible for the coordination and support for the programs administered by the College for Living Department. These programs include but are not limited to, College for Living evening classes, Foundations, and New Visions. These programs cover topics like life skills, money and finances, inter-personal communications, decision-making/problem-solving, and independent living skills for individuals with intellectual disabilities.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinates the creation of the schedule for CFL programs in Colleague. This includes determining the courses necessary to run, creating the terms, and courses each semester in Colleague.

  • Assists the Director in the annual creation of the department budget, then monitor and allocate department budgetary funds throughout the year.

  • Develops databases to accurately maintain and store departmental data, both student and fiscal, in compliance with all state and federal record-keeping regulations.

  • Coordinates communication support for the department for current students, regulatory agencies, future students, student support systems, etc.

  • Develops and distributes program information for each of the CFL programs to the community, as well as local agencies that support potential student populations.

  • Reviews, approves and tracks monthly transportation billing. Coordinates with Financial Services to ensure payment.

  • Coordinates, and monitors hiring and payments for New Visions instructors and evening class adjunct instructors.

  • Registers and verifies attendance for students in Colleague for College for Living classes.

  • Assists in classrooms as needed for supervision.

  • Accompanies teachers on community outings.

  • Drives van as needed to support the learning outcomes of the program for its students.

  • Supervises work-study students in the office.

  • Works with Medicaid to verify student attendance for Medicaid reimbursements and makes appropriate corrections.

  • Set ups and takes down class setups for College for Living.

  • Assists all staff members with trouble shooting computer, copier, printer, and fax issues.

  • Maintains and runs reports in a separate database for New Visions.

  • Processes all payments for tuition, housing, and meal fees.

  • Takes pictures and develops a Memory Book and graduation presentation for New Visions program.

  • Updates and disseminates New Visions brochure to printer and mailing house.

  • Performs other relevant duties and projects as assigned.

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or foreign equivalency

  • A minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in a position working with students/adults with intellectual disabilities which may include case management, teaching, direct care, etc. Experience should include working in programs that require compliance with federal, state and/or local regulations such as OPWDD.

  • An Associate's degree from an accredited college or university or foreign equivalency with a minimum of six (6) years of experience will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree and minimum of 2 years of work experiences.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have acceptable driving record.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience working with students with intellectual disabilities and with students of diverse backgrounds preferably in a post-secondary setting.

  • Experience working with Federal and New York State aided programs and requirements such as Medicaid.

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish. English and another language will be considered.

  • Must have the ability to function independently as well as part of a team.

  • Must have the ability to function in a highly collaborative environment and develop effective working relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization.

Additional Information:

Onondaga Community College offers an excellent benefit package including health, dental and vision insurance. Qualified domestic partners are eligible to participate. Employees also participate in the NYS Retirement System.

Salary range is $44,000-55,000 depending on relevant experience. Official transcripts are required at the time of hire. A post-offer background screening is required.
