Coordinator of Clinical Education, Physical Therapist Assistant Program

9 month faculty position with coordinator responsibilities

SALARY: Anticipated starting salary is $53,250.00 - $71,000.00. Actual salary will be commensurate with education and experience in accordance with the MCCC/MTA collective bargaining agreement. GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

This full-time Professional Staff member will be responsible for coordinating clinical education for the Physical Therapist Assistant Program under the guidance of the Program Chair and the Dean of Health Professions. Responsible for the organization, administration, continuous review, development and planning, and general effectiveness of the clinical component of the Physical Therapist Assistant Program, as well as teaching assigned courses within the program that are directly related to students' performance in clinical.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

MCCC faculty member will be responsible for coordinating clinical education for the Physical Therapist Assistant Program under the guidance of the Program Chair and the Dean of Health Professions. Responsible for the organization, administration, continuous review, development and planning, and general effectiveness of the clinical component of the Physical Therapist Assistant Program, as well as teaching assigned courses within the program that are directly related to students' performance in clinical.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the Program Chair in assuring that the Physical Therapist Assistant Program meets standards established by the college and the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) by planning, implementing, and continuously evaluating program outcomes.

  • Establishes, maintains, and manages the clinical sites to ensure that students are offered the variety of experiences necessary to achieve programmatic goals.

  • Initiates and maintains current contracts with all clinical facilities.

  • Maintains attendance, academic, and other records and submits information and reports to the Program Chair in a timely manner as required by the College, and/or CAPTE.

  • Assists in the development of the Physical Therapist Assistant curriculum, course content and the selections of textbooks, library materials and equipment/supplies to facilitate learning.

  • Assists in the developing departmental budget, prioritizing expenditures, and maintaining inventory of existing equipment/supplies.

  • Takes an active interest in and incorporates simulation education into didactic and clinical teaching.

  • Participates in all college meetings including department meetings as outlined by the collective bargaining agreement.

  • In the event of the Program Director's temporary absence, fulfill the core responsibilities of the Program Director as defined by CAPTE for accredited PTA Programs.

  • Promotes the College's mission, goals, and objectives and performs all other duties as outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.

Requirements:

  • An earned Bachelor of Science degree required.

  • A valid license as required by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in order to practice as Physical Therapist (PT) or Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA).

  • An American Physical Therapy Association credentialed Clinical Instructor Certification.

  • A minimum of five years of work experience as a licensed PT/PTA minimum of two years' experience teaching in an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant Program. A minimum of three years of experience coordinating aspects of clinical education for PTA students in an accredited CAPTE program.

  • A demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnical background of student in the community college.

  • Candidates will be required to pass a CORI/SORI and/or National background check as a condition of employment.
