The coordinator of Asian American/Fraternity & Sorority Programs and Services is responsible for fostering a commitment to student success by actively developing, implementing, and maintaining programs and services that enrich student learning, build and maintain a strong sense of community and support the social and personal development of students at the University of Oklahoma. The position also provides guidance and leadership related to programming, assessment, and other administrative duties.

The incumbent serves as a member of the administration of Multicultural Programs and Services and Fraternity and Sorority Programs and Services units; develops programs and services to enhance student leadership and learning; guidance and supervision to graduate students; lead assessment initiatives; manage student retention; serves as a liaison and main contact between (inter)national fraternity/sorority general headquarter offices, regional/local volunteers, and the University; works with various University and external constituencies in the supervision of activities and goals for the Office of Student Life.

This position will assist the director of Student Life in providing vision and strategies to support the students and communities they represent.

Required Education: Bachelor Degree or equivalent combination of education/job related experience, AND:

  • 0 - 24 months of student advising or programming experience

Skills:

  • Proficient navigating and maintaining databases

  • Advanced excel skills with ability to build and manipulate spreadsheets

  • Ability to speak, read and write clear, concise English

  • Basic math skills

  • Ability to accurately read and understand written materials and instructions

  • Basic computer skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

  • Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information

  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines

  • Able to communicate well and build rapport quickly with students, faculty and staff

  • Able to produce reports and complete work within deadlines

  • Strong initiative to solve problems

  • Able to work well with interdepartmental teams and initiatives

  • General office skills such as multi-line phone, copying, filing, faxing, and mail

  • Customer service

  • Skills and accomplishment in the areas of collaborative work with internal and external constituencies, conflict resolution, strategic planning, and awareness and sensitivity to issues concerning equal opportunity, advocacy, and student success

  • Strong group and one-on-one advising and coaching

  • Understanding of the process of involved in student development and ability to communicate this understanding in a positive manner to all segments of the university community

  • Experience in developing/implementing programs and plans for community growth

  • Strong record of fostering communication with students, parents, faculty, community and general public

  • Conduct themselves at all times with the highest levels of personal and professional integrity

  • Assist in identifying and recommending policy suggestions when efficient, sustainable, and alternative solutions are found

  • Developing and implementing efficient budgets, cost saving solutions and long-term financial savings and investment strategies

  • Ability to work independently

  • Must be able to perform basic data analysis

  • Must be able to read and interpret policy as well as State and Federal regulations

  • Able to effectively evaluate projects/programs and produce comprehensive reports

  • Must be able to supervise staff and communicate directions and expectations effectively

  • Must have strong ability to lead project teams

  • Must be able to create and deliver effective training presentations

  • Composition and proofreading skills

  • Some technical writing experience

  • Proficient in copy writing, editing, proofreading and composition

Certifications:

  • Valid Drivers License to attend activities

Advertised Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent exposure to pressure caused by deadlines and busy periods Maybe required to work irregular hours (outside of normal business hours) due to student programs and events Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies

Departmental Preferences:

  • Master's degree in higher education administration, student affairs or a related field preferred.

  • Experience with first generation student engagement and diversity programming

Supervision: 1-5 Staff
