Wilson College is currently accepting applications for a Coordinator of Admissions for a new hybrid Doctor of Occupational Therapy Program.

The Coordinator of Admissions holds a faculty academic appointment and has administrative, academic, service, and scholarship responsibilities consistent with the mission and philosophy of the academic program. They are responsible for all student recruitment, application, and admissions processes for the program. They oversee and recommend updates to recruitment materials and admissions policies and procedures. Serving as Chair of Admissions Committee, they are responsible for all matters concerning student admission to the OTD Program including recruitment, application, selection, and matriculation. The Admissions Committee is responsible for overseeing faculty involvement in a transparent admissions process that is consistent with current ACOTE Standards and guarantees non-discrimination and equal opportunity for all applicants.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Directs all day-to-day operations regarding student recruitment and admissions processes.

  • Serves as program liaison with the Wilson College Admissions department.

  • Serves as program liaison with the Occupational Therapy Centralized Application Service (OTCAS) and other outside agencies involved in the admissions process

  • Serves as the primary faculty contact for all student inquiries requiring more specific program information.

  • Plans and oversees program recruitment efforts, to include monthly informational webinars.

  • Assures nondiscrimination and equal opportunity during the admissions process for all prospective students.

  • Educates all faculty regarding the admissions process, including specific emphasis on their role in applicant screening, interviewing, and selection.

  • Directs staff support personnel who assist with assembling and disseminating admissions information, receiving applications, entering data, and preparing files for interviews.

  • Annually reviews the admissions process and criteria and makes recommendations to the faculty regarding changes.

  • Coordinates an update of the program website, handbooks, and informational brochures relative to student recruitment and admissions to ensure alignment with current ACOTE Standards and that relevant information is provided to all prospective students.

  • Reports all recruitment and admissions activities as an agenda item in each department meeting.

  • Assists the Coordinator of Student Affairs with student assimilation into the OTD program immediately following enrollment offer acceptance and prior to orientation.

  • Coordinates activities of the Admissions Committee.

  • Plans and conducts Admissions Committee meetings.

  • In conjunction with the Admissions Committee, provides Committee oversight to the Admissions Policies and Procedures component of the Program Assessment Plan and ACOTE Self Study Report.

  • Ensures all program policies, procedures, and practices under the responsibility of the Coordinator of Admissions provide for compliance with ACOTE accreditation policies and procedures.

  • Additional duties as assigned by the Program Director.

Teaching and Education Responsibilities: The Coordinator of Admissions teaches courses as agreed upon with the Program Director that meet the institutional workload requirements. This position is remote/hybrid and requires travel periodically to Pennsylvania throughout the year for intensive lab experiences and College functions deemed necessary for the Occupational Therapy program's function.

Scholarship Responsibilities: Conducts and disseminates research/scholarship activities in accordance with ACOTE accreditation requirements and institutional policies and procedures.

Service Responsibilities: Participates in institutional and professional service opportunities in accordance with ACOTE accreditation and Pennsylvania licensure requirements, and institutional policies and procedures.

Professional Development Responsibilities: Faculty are expected to maintain currency in their area of teaching/clinical practice and abide by any licensure professional development standards established by the State Board of Occupational Therapy Education and Licensure (see https://www.dos.pa.gov/ProfessionalLicensing/BoardsCommissions/OccupationalTherapy/Pages/default.aspx ).

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Chair the Admissions Committee

  • Administrative staff dedicated to Admissions functions in the department.

  • Lab assistants and adjuncts in assigned courses

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

  • Full time

  • Remote/Hybrid

  • Work during evenings and weekends may be required

Travel: Periodic travel to the Philadelphia metro area and Chambersburg, PA area will be required for intensive lab experiences and College functions.

Qualifications:

  • Earned clinical doctorate in Occupational Therapy (i.e., OTD) or terminal doctorate (i.e., Ph.D., Ed.D., D. Sc.) in a discipline appropriate for teaching responsibilities from a USDE-recognized accrediting agency.

  • A minimum of 5 years of full-time, documented experience in the field of Occupational Therapy.

  • Eligibility for faculty rank at the Assistant Professor-level or above, demonstrating experience with the guidelines for faculty rank in the Faculty Bylaws.

  • Understanding of higher education and contemporary clinical practice appropriate for leadership in occupational therapy clinical education.

  • Knowledge of legislative, regulatory, legal, and practice issues affecting didactic and clinical education, students, and the profession of occupational therapy.

  • Licensed, or eligible for licensure, as an Occupational Therapist in Pennsylvania.

  • Active in professional activities at local, state, and/or national levels.

  • Experience consistent with Wilson College System for Faculty Rank.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with faculty, students, staff, and administration.

  • Ability to use the College's resources, notably technology, to promote effective teaching and learning.

  • Interest, initiative, and ability to work with the Program Director, department faculty, and administrators for program development, implementation, and outcomes assessment.

  • Ability to adhere to Wilson College policies and procedures and within FERPA and HIPAA regulations.

  • Must have a valid driver's license.
