ResponsibilitiesCoordinates administrative support services for the medical staff and medical staff officers. Processes and maintains the database for medical staff and allied health professional applications and reappointment applications; monitors compliance with all applicable laws and regulations; monitors the compliance and revision of medical staff bylaws and departmental policies and procedures; supervises the collection of medical staff dues; coordinates medical staff social events; and assists in communication between medical staff, allied health staff and the hospital.
Responsible for monitoring the verification process for medical staff incumbents. Completes physician, nurse and other employee verifications and ensures that the organization and staff are in accordance with staff bylaws, industry trends and standard credentialing procedures. May complete administrative duties such as ensuring state medical licenses are up-to-date and checking the status on new license applications.
Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Leads and directs the work of others.
A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Typically reports to Chief Quality Officer.
QualificationsBachelor's degree in area of specialty and at least 5 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. RHIT, or certification in medical staff credentialing, preferred
