Job Description:

The Coordinator, Internship Placement (IPP) & Virginia Alumni Mentoring (VAM) supports programs that help students build skills and relationships that set them up for career success. Specifically, they help generate internship opportunities for the Internship Placement Program (IPP), manage the day-to-day operations of the Virginia Alumni Mentoring (VAM) community, and assist with various employer-focused programs and alumni engagement initiatives. Those who thrive in this role are comfortable with independent work, highly organized, motivated by outcomes, and eager to build relationships and cultivate experiential-based learning opportunities. The Coordinator is an important member of the Employer Relations and Experiential Learning Team in the UVA Career Center, which has responsibility for successful employer relations on Grounds and within the broader UVA community.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical and administrative support for the Internship Placement Program (IPP), Virginia Alumni Mentoring (VAM) community, and other employer-focused engagement

  • Conduct employer outreach and cultivate internship opportunities through targeted in-person and virtual interactions

  • Maintain accurate and detailed notes on all internship site and employer engagement and keep staff informed about employers' interests

  • Opportunity to support all aspects of the intern recruitment and placement process for the IPP program, including, but not limited to, creation and distribution of recruitment materials; planning and facilitating information sessions; managing application submissions and deadlines; scheduling and conducting interviews; and advising and supporting applicants throughout the process.

  • Support virtual career events (i.e. registration, Zoom support, and email communication)

  • Track and assemble monthly reports on engagement data (written and visual)

  • Send communication via email, social media, and/or other channels to engage students and alumni in mentoring

  • Build relationships with students and UVA alumni to improve experiential programs that support student career development

  • Specific responsibilities will be determined based on the life cycle of programming.

This role is a hybrid role entailing both in-person and remote work, and the physical work location is the UVA Career Center, Bryant Hall at Scott Stadium.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • At least two years of experience

  • Detail oriented, flexible, positive, and works well with a team

  • Data management and/or program assessment experience, including advanced knowledge of Excel features (creating graphs and charts)

  • Marketing and/or research experience

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills

  • Experience with sending email communication via CRM or web-based automation tool (ex: MailChimp)

  • Experience or interest in developing Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills

  • Enjoys innovating new programs and experiences that support the career development of UVA students.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with internship programs, mentoring programs, or alumni engagement

  • Program management experience

  • Recruiting or career services experience (as a student participant or working professional).

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and is expected to be $48,000.00-51,000.00. This is an exempt-level position with UVa benefits. Employees' benefits package highlights include:

The UVA Career Center is located in the Carl Smith Center at Scott Stadium, on the 2nd floor of Bryant Hall. We are on the UTS bus route and have short-term metered parking for visitors at the main office.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
