Pay Range: $20.02 - $25.77 and determined based on relevant years of work experience.

Position Summary: Coordinate International Education programs for Johnson County Community College (JCCC), such as study abroad (traditional and faculty-led), the Global Awareness Program, international events, and other opportunities provided by international grants or partnerships with foreign institutions and organizations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Senior-level support role.

  • Completes assignments with little supervision.

  • May assist less-experienced team members.

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree + 4 years experience.

Position Details: Job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Assist faculty with the logistics of setting up faculty-led study abroad (FLSA) programs, including but not limited to buying group plane, hotel, and excursion tickets and/or liaising with outside vendors and providers. Set up payments via the business office. Ensure class sections are created and students are enrolled, including student-required exception deadlines.

  • Ensure students have passports/visas and provide guidance to all parties on obtaining proper documents. Inform and remind faculty of responsibilities related to their programs.

    Track budgets for programs based on approved program estimates. Send students post-engagement evaluations and surveys.

  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with all study abroad partner schools. Collect all application documents and forward them to partner schools for enrollment in study abroad programs.

  • Work with Financial Aid to facilitate appropriate financial disbursement to students who study abroad. Coordinate and conduct pre-departure orientations for study-abroad periods.

    Interpret and forward transcripts for each student that are received from the abroad school and recorded on the JCCC transcript. Liaise with the business office to collect student fees.

  • Maintain and update lists of approved transfer courses at foreign institutions and their JCCC equivalent. Liaise with JCCC and foreign institutional academic departments to facilitate the approval of transfer courses from partner institutions.

  • Assist students in selecting an appropriate study abroad program consistent with academic requirements, objectives, and a study plan. Guide students through application, acceptance, orientation, and evaluation processes.

  • Promote and market study abroad opportunities by contacting JCCC professors each semester to request class time for short presentations on international opportunities. Collaborate with Marketing departments to create and maintain effective marketing materials. Promote study abroad scholarships to students to increase the number of students studying abroad.

  • Assist in coordinating international grants. Liaise with the budget administrator, the business office, the Grants office, and other applicable JCCC offices to ensure the accuracy of the information and strict adherence to all restrictions set forth by the grant and funding entity.

  • Plan annual Intercultural Retreat, International Education Week, Explore the World, Global Connections, and study abroad fair/informational sessions and events.

  • Coordinate the Global Awareness Program (GAP). Recruit, advise, and follow up with students regarding the GAP program. Present information to faculty to educate them on how to have their courses on the approved internationalized course list.

  • Duties and responsibilities, as required by business necessity, may be added, deleted or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing. Scheduling, shift assignments and work location may be changed at any time, as required by business necessity.
