Position Summary:
Responsible for monitoring accuracy of documentation including analysis of openings, re-certifications, assignment of diagnostic and surgical procedure codes, providing daily scheduling and clerical support to Hospice programs following organizational and departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
1.Assists with staff scheduling, productivity recording, and telephone duties, i.e., taking messages and contacting staff.
2.Coordinates the admission process for all Hospice and Home Care Palliative clients.
3.Participates in data collection, compilation, computer input and generation of reporting.
4.Analyzes admission and re-certification paperwork for accuracy.
5.Reviews plans of care for clinical appropriateness, completeness and medical necessity.
6.With assistance, utilizes ICD-9-CM coding system; assigns appropriate diagnostic and surgical procedure codes; acts as resource person for agency staff.

Required:
Associate degree in Health Information Mgmt, related field, or equivalent experience.
One year general office experience.
Proficient in MS Office.
Preferred:
Hospice, Home Care, or Hospital Medical Records experience.
Status of RHIT or eligibility for.
ICD-9-CM coding experience.
