Union University seeks a qualified individual for the position of Coordinator for the Undergraduate Nursing Program.

Position Description:

  • Receive direction for activities from both the Chair of the Undergraduate Nursing Program and Associate Dean of the Undergraduate Nursing Program.

  • Work with the Chair of the Undergraduate Nursing Program to establish an efficient and productive office setting.

  • Assist Chair of Undergraduate Nursing Program in admitting Jackson based undergraduate students into the College of Nursing by:

  • Keep an accurate and current file with backup on students accepted into the College of Nursing

  • Register all Jackson based undergraduate cohort nursing students each semester

  • Complete any related task that supports the progression of the undergraduate nursing student through the program

  • Coordinate the College of Nursing Scholarship application process

  • Assign faculty advisors for all Jackson based students enrolled in the undergraduate nursing program.

  • Serve as a resource for addressing questions from currently enrolled undergraduate nursing students or prospective nursing students, including changing major as needed. This requires familiarity with the different aspects of other regional undergraduate nursing programs.

  • Obtain and return special exams associated with the undergraduate nursing program on the Jackson campus.

  • Assist the Chair of the Undergraduate Nursing Program and Jackson nursing faculty in preparing documents associated with the development, implementation, or evaluation of undergraduate nursing education.

  • Serve undergraduate nursing faculty in making travel arrangements for special meetings.

  • Maintain a database of information that allow the Dean, Associate Dean, and Chair of the Undergraduate Nursing Program to review the success of the undergraduate nursing students.

  • Maintain an accurate filing system of the undergraduate nursing program that supports the retrieval of necessary documents for accreditation (CCNE, SACS, and SREB) or other necessary reports. Examples include maintaining course evaluations, alumni evaluations, and exit interviews.

  • Assist with the licensure process of graduating nursing students including collection of all pre-licensure information for the application and provide resource information pertaining to testing outside the State of Tennessee.

  • Prepare for nursing events that are specifically associated with the undergraduate nursing program and assist with activities associated with graduation exercises as needed.

  • Provide prompt support to the College of Nursing admissions department in sending letters to prospective students or other related tasks.

  • Perform miscellaneous tasks requested from Dean, Associate Dean, or Chair of Undergraduate Nursing Program.

Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelors degree. Preference will be given to applicants with previous experience as a program coordinator or administrative assistant. This position requires excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, including education and experience in routine office procedures such as professional typing, data management, filing, transcription, and other clerical services is required. The ability to effectively use Microsoft Word and Excel, follow directions yet function with a minimum guidelines and supervision, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast paced office environment is essential.

Provides individualized attention and nursing care in accordance with resident Care Plan which includes communicating, assistance with grooming, bathing, oral hygiene, turning, incontinent care, toileting, colostomy care, prosthetic appliances, transferring, ambulation, and range of motion, as appropriate. 2. Observes and reports changes in resident conditions to Supervisor. 3. Performs tasks assigned by Supervisor including vital signs, residents' weights, applying non-prescription creams/ointments, and collecting specimens. 4. Escorts residents to dining room, assists with feeding, and verifies meal consumption. 5. Passes supplements, snacks, and fluids to residents per protocol and schedule and verifies consumption. 6. Maintains clean, neat and organized work environment. 7. Protects the personal belongings of each resident including eyeglasses, dentures, hearing aids, furnishings, jewelry, clothing, memorabilia, etc. Promptly reports missing items to Supervisor per protocol. 8. Answers resident call lights promptly and courteously. 9. Assists with orienting residents and their families to the nursing home upon admission. 10. Escorts residents to appointments, including beauty shop, activities, church services, and participates in activities and functions as directed. 11. Completes certified nursing assistant electronic records, documenting care provided and other information in accordance with Facility policy and procedures. 12. Participates in the training and orientation of new staff by demonstrating a positive, helpful, and enthusiastic attitude. 13. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to provide hands-on care to residents as well as to operate standard office machines such as fax, telephone, etc. Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
