Monday-Friday 8 AM-5 PM or as needed. This position offers some opportunities to telework but is not 100% remote. The position necessitates being in person at the System Office varying days each week and in person at all events.

We are seeking an innovative, solution-focused, engagement-oriented professional to join our team as the Coordinator of Knowledge and Learning.

This Coordinator will be a part of the Student Success Center team based at Virginia's Community Colleges System Office in Richmond, Virginia. The Student Success Center supports Virginia's Community Colleges faculty, staff, and administrators in their work with students. This position and will take a lead role in creating a myriad of professional development opportunities, (i.e. conferences, summits, retreats, institutes, academies, trainings, meetings, awards, and grants) to support Virginia's Community Colleges leaders, faculty, and staff in their efforts to enhance student success.

The Coordinator for Knowledge and Learning must possess strong critical thinking and interpersonal skills with meticulous attention to detail and ability to work independently and in a team environment. Strong candidates will prioritize multiple projects and adapt quickly in a fluid, fast-paced work environment while maintaining a friendly service focused mindset.

Demonstrated experience in professional event planning and execution are required. Proficiency in various technology platforms such as Zoom, Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Canvas, Constant Contact and Event Management Platforms are required. Strong candidates will have knowledge and understanding of the specific professional development needs of Virginia's Community Colleges leaders, faculty, and staff with a genuine commitment to supporting the VCCS mission in working with Virginia's diverse population.

Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications

  • Education, coursework, training and experience in education, social science, counseling or a related field with an understanding of how people learn, communicate, and process information

  • Knowledge of training design and development, adult learning theory, organizational development theory, research on training related to curriculum and instruction implementation.

  • Understanding of student success barriers and current evidence-based solutions.

  • Ability to provide leadership and management of team members in alignment with VCCS goals and objectives.

  • Exhibit ability to foster collaboration and generate respect from internal and external stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing and work effectively with multi-cultural populations that support diversity, cultural understanding, and inclusion.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills, including the ability to effectively plan, budget, establish structures, systems, and processes, and meet deadlines to reach goals and objectives.

  • Demonstrated ability to use current technologies to gather, store, share, organization, and disseminate information (web meeting platforms, survey and polling software, cloud-based tools, and Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Canvas and CVENT).

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects; work in a demanding, fast-paced environment with changing priorities; and adhere to required timelines meeting work priorities and objectives.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

  • Extensive experience in the area of training coordination.

  • Experience managing budgets.

  • Demonstrated excellence in organizational, administrative, and self and team leadership.

  • Considerable experience in project management.
