Walsh University is seeking a dedicated professional to serve as the Coordinator of Culture and Belonging within the Student Affairs division. Reporting directly to the Director of Culture and Belonging, this position plays a crucial role in supporting and implementing initiatives related to international student services, global learning and intercultural education. The Coordinator will work closely with the Director, creating a stronger sense of belonging through outreach, student-centered programs, individualized support and mentorship. The successful candidate will contribute to creating an inclusive and culturally rich campus environment that aligns with the university's Judeo-Christian traditions and values.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

Student Outreach and Support:

  • Assist in the planning and execution of programs and events that promote intercultural understanding, awareness, and appreciation among students, faculty, and staff.

  • Collaborate with student organizations, academic departments, and campus partners to facilitate initiatives promoting cultural humility

  • Serve as the co-advisor for Black Student Union and World Student organization

  • Provide support in coordinating services for international students, including orientation programs, immigration advising, and academic support.

  • Collaborate with academic departments to ensure international students receive necessary support for academic success.

  • Assist in organizing and promoting cultural exchange opportunities for international and domestic students.

  • Serve as personal and academic mentor to build a sense of belonging

  • Promote and implement programs designed to enhance student experiences at Walsh University cultivating a welcoming environment for students, addressing individual student needs to foster cross-cultural understanding.

Administrative Support:

  • Support the coordination and promotion of study beyond programs, including student recruitment, advising, pre-departure, and re-entry programs.

  • Assist in managing logistics and communications related to study beyond opportunities

  • Assist the Director of Culture and Belonging in administrative tasks, including data collection, program assessment, and reporting.

  • Maintain accurate records and databases

  • Manage communication channels to ensure effective and timely dissemination of information

  • Collaborate with the Director of Culture and Belonging to track student club/organization budgets including expenditures and revenues, maintaining records, and linking program objectives and assessment to the university's vision strategic implementation priorities

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Foster positive relationships with diverse student populations, faculty, staff, and external partners.

  • Collaborate with other university departments to integrate cultural humility into various aspects of campus life.

  • Support the Director in representing the office at meetings, conferences, and events.

  • Other duties as assigned or required.

Required Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

Must understand and support the Mission, Vision and Code of Ethical Conduct of Walsh University, as a Catholic higher education university as expressed in Ex Corde Ecclesiae, and possess the following:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

  • Commitment to fostering intercultural understanding and cultural humility in alignment with Catholic values.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Other Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as highly effective interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills.

  • Ability to multi-task and engage in the gathering, examination and analysis of information to arrive at solutions or recommendations and/or take appropriate action.

  • Must take pride and be thorough in the quality of work produced completing assignments in accordance with the communicated timeline.

  • Demonstrated technology literacy and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Physical requirements of the job include prolonged sitting, extended periods of keyboard work and use of a computer monitor, some walking, occasional lifting and carrying objects no more than 20 pounds.
