Job Profile Summary

Under limited supervision, this position is responsible for the development and facilitation of donor events that appropriately and consistently promote donor fulfillment, confidence and trust with the goal of cultivating sustained and increased giving. A secondary focus is on gathering useful information on alumni, donors and prospective donors to connect with them and advance the donor gift cycle. This position is directly involved in Broward College's Strategic Goals of enrollment, retention and completion.

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's degree required.

  • An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.

Minimum Experience/Training:

  • Four years of experience with events and programming in a non-profit or fundraising setting. Experience in a higher education institution preferred; including experience planning and participating in events with donors and/or local community.

Essential Functions:

  • Daily
  • 20%: Plans, manages and coordinates all aspects of Advancement Office/Foundation's major and minor donor relations and development events with a focus on protocol and high standards (American Dream Summit, Foundation Board of Directors and sub-committees, Heritage Society, Speaker Series dinners, Golf Tournament, occasional alumni events, staff retreats, etc.), including but not limited to, budget development, resource allocation, vendor relations, volunteer recruitment, room setup diagrams and traffic flow plans, and timeline preparation. Coordinates with colleagues and other College offices, including the President's office, Communications/Marketing, campus facilities, security and others.
  • Daily
  • 10%: In collaboration with Stewardship Manager, works on donor relations program to build trust through consistent and meaningful contact. Follows through and executes donor activities and events agreed upon during the weekly Advancement strategy meetings.

  • 10%: Develops and manages a social media presence on LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and other outlets as well as maintain web content on the Advancement website in coordination with Manager, Outreach & Communications.

  • 10%: Coordinates the design, development and purchasing of all required print materials for events (invitations, posters and promotional materials, name tags, etc.); and selection and purchasing of promotional materials (giveaways, banners, etc.).

  • 10%: Develops and maintains effective relationships with service contractors, caterers and other suppliers of event services.

  • 10%: Manages Foundation event information in the Foundation's database, Raiser's Edge (RE) event module. Develops and manages Calendar of Events on the Foundation's shared drive.

  • 10%: In collaboration with Stewardship Manager, tracks and informs the relevant Advancement team member with facts and information regarding major donors, including but not limited to birthdays, gift anniversaries and recognition opportunities, special events and accomplishments. Provides stakeholders with advance briefings on event attendees, including biographical information and highlights of prospect information captured in the RE prospect module and constituent notes.

  • 10%: Works with colleagues to improve biographical and contact information on donors, prospective donors and alumni and advancing effective data-mining and research strategies.

  • 5%: Develops business processes for anticipating and meeting needs of colleagues in the Office of Advancement, the Foundation and the College.

  • 5%: Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to clearly articulate the mission and brand of the Foundation.

  • Ability to develop and manage high-end events with a sense of panache, including but not limited to, sophisticated décor, elegant menus, chic settings, and refined venues with the goal of donor fulfillment.

  • Necessary to be proficient in CASE guidelines and professional standards.

  • Experience with Raiser's Edge (RE) is preferred.

  • Strong knowledge, understanding and skills in area of responsibility; including an understanding of concepts and principles of related areas and functions.

  • Ability to manage own work to job and performance standards. Ability to participate as an active team member

  • Ability to lead a group of employees

  • Requires intermediate to advanced knowledge of computer systems, i.e. Microsoft Office Products as well as specialized computer systems

  • Ability to interact and effectively communicate with a diverse employee and student population
