Provides support and assistance in the conduct of clinical research studies in accordance with federal and institutional guidelines. Coordinates and provides direction to daily operations of clinical studies.

Level I: Graduate from an accredited medical assistant or LPN program plus at least 3 years health care experience in a related field or baccalaureate degree and at least 2 years research experience or associate degree and at least three years research experience. Sr. Level: A minimum of 2 years at Level I and at least 3 years of research experience.

This position requires a highly organized individual with strong communication, problem solving and computer/word processing skills. Must have familiarity with medical terminology and basic knowledge of research and data management systems. MOA certification or LPN license required if applicable. ACRP Clinical Research Coordinator Certification desirable.

MMCORC General DescriptionThe Metro-Minnesota Community Oncology Research Consortium (MMCORC) is a nonprofit research program sponsored by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and participating hospitals and clinics. We are a consortium consisting of 22 community hospitals and oncology clinics with over 160 physician members in the Minneapolis/St.

Paul metro-area and surrounding communities, extending to the western Wisconsin area.Our programs mission is to bring the advantages of cancer research to the community. MMCORC provides the opportunity for patients and physicians to have access to National Cancer Institute (NCI) and pharmaceutical sponsored clinical trials for all types of adult cancer.This program provides people in our community access to:The newest therapies available for cancer treatment

This position will be based primarily at Fairview Southdale Hospital Oncology Clinic and MN Oncology Clinic in Edina, MN This position is posted as 40 hours/week full time, but would consider 0.8-0.9 (32-36 hour/week) part time for the ideal candidate.MMCORC Research Coordinator:This Research Coordinator position involves coordination of a diverse workload consisting of providing data management support for multiple cancer treatment studies, including long term follow-up cases, and assisting in the implementation and coordination of special studies.Additional duties include:Assist Research Nurses with screening cases for eligibility.Assist Research Nurses with data entry.Coordinate enrollment and informed consent process for non-treatment, registry studies.Coordinate collection and submission of requested study material for submission to research bases per protocol requirements.Maintain inventory of required laboratory kits at assigned sites.Coordinate collection of site regulatory documents.Coordinate follow-up test schedules with participant, investigator and hospital/clinic staff.Maintains organized, complete, and accurate source data and research records for follow-up of participants enrolled to treatment studies.Ensures data collection, entry, and timely submission to the appropriate sponsors.Administer questionnaires and/or surveys to participants and collect clinical data.Report adverse drug reactions and protocol deviations to study sponsor, NCI and FDA according to prescribed reporting system.Coordinate transport and accountability of investigational drug and other study supplies to assigned clinic or hospital according to sponsor policies and regulations.Prepare research records for sponsor audits or monitor visits and participate in those visits.Special Knowledge/

A licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of MN is preferred, as is having a CRC or CCRP accreditation or the ability to receive accreditation. POSITION SUMMARY: Assists the Director of the OEQCR in providing a centralized office for the guidance and facilitation of the clinical research process. Helps facilitate the ongoing accreditation of the Human Subjects Research Protection Program. Provides training for research coordinators, ancillary research personnel, and physicians. Serves as a resource for faculty and staff concerning the clinical research process. Provides expertise and facilitates the establishing and maintaining of the Clinical Research Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), training and resource materials, and current literature relevant to the clinical research process. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: * Assists in providing centralized office for the guidance and facilitation of the clinical research process. * Works with investigator and study staff for new studies, including but not limited to, study cost analysis and budget formulation. * Consults on program development, proposal writing, protocol case report development * Provides synergistic interaction with related research personnel (grant managers, research pharmacist, compliance officer) * Acts as liaison with external sponsors * Assists in the responsibility for the ongoing accreditation of the Human Subjects Research Protection Program. * Manages and assists with quality review and audits of clinical studies as required by the clinical trial Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and the Human Subjects Research Committee. * Assists in providing training for research coordinators, ancillary research personnel, and physicians * Trains new research coordinators and provides continuing education for established coordinators * Schedules and conducts research coordinator group support meetings * Facilitates classes on changing aspects of clinical trials * Sponsors and administers electronic "list serve" for collaboration on research questions or impediments. * Conducts training seminars or works one-on-one on various grant issues, including proposal writing, research ethics, protocol management and budget development * Coaches physicians in research staff management * Assists in serving as a resource for faculty and staff concerning the clinical research process. * Assists in establishing and maintaining clinical trials SOPs, training and resource materials, and current literature relevant to the clinical research process * Assist in interviewing, hiring, supervising, mentoring, developing and evaluating (department) staff subject to HHRI human resources practices and policies. EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS: Education/Experience: Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge and skills is qualifying. Typical qualifications would be a Bachelor's degree in Science or a related field with 6 years of related clinical experience including two years' experience in research; or a Master's degree in Science with four (4) years of related experience with two years' experience in research. Licensed Registered Nurse in the state of MN is preferred, as is a CRC or CCRP accreditation or the ability to receive accreditation. Skill, Knowledge & Ability (SKA): Requires interaction with diverse populations, institutional administrators, physician and non-physician research investigators, institutional staff, and research subjects. Requires broad knowledge of principles and practices within clinical research and an understanding of practical issues influencing activities.
