The incumbent should be self-directed, service-oriented, dependable, and display sound judgment. Reporting to the Sr. Assistant Director of Financial Services, this position will provide administrative, operational, and customer service support for Financial Services within the W.

Working Environment

Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts Ability to clearly communicate verbally, read, write, see and hear to perform essential functions

Minimum Qualifications

Desired Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge of government, donor and/or institutional rules, regulations, guidelines, and procedures for awarding of financial aid.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal Title IV financial aid programs, awarding eligibility requirements, and supporting regulations.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with billing systems and/or ability to interpret how billing and payments are assessed and applied to student accounts

  • Experience in automated processing.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Family Educational Rights and Privacy (FERPA) requirements.

  • Experience in computer software skills, such as Microsoft Office products, specifically Word, Excel, and Adobe

  • Evidence of effective communication skills, exemplary customer service, and working cooperatively as a team

Essential Duties

  • Counsel and advise students about financial aid eligibility, application procedures, funding options, costs, indebtedness--individualizing information to the particular needs and situations of the student

  • Collaborate with internal partners

  • Financial Aid, Student Accounts, Accounting, and Advancement Office to resolve student concerns
  • Provide daily administrative support for Financial Services, such as creating and sending scholarship award notifications, updating communication templates, monitoring and updating databases and other duties necessary to support the department

  • Collect and/or analyze student data to assist in the awarding of scholarships within the state, institutional, and donor guidelines

  • Assist in the development and presentation of information regarding program costs and financial aid options to prospective students during admission outreach activities

  • Post scholarships and other financial aid awards to student accounts; compile supporting documentation for approval

  • Provide a high level of customer service in all forms of correspondence with students, as well as internal and external partners

  • Perform other duties as assigned or apparent

Salary Range

$44,000 - $46,000 per year; DOE
