Under the immediate supervision of the Custodial Manager, the Facilities, Events Set-Up Coordinator oversees event set-ups, teardowns, and clean-ups across Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) campuses. This role plays a crucial part in maintaining the appeal and functionality of campus environments.

The position requires strong leadership skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently or collaboratively. Key responsibilities include ensuring compliance with safety standards, coordinating training, and managing event logistics. While considered a Coordinator level position, incumbents are expected to perform all duties of Facilities Events Set-Up and Repair positions.

The ideal candidate must possess strong critical thinking abilities to analyze complex situations and develop effective solutions. Additionally, excellent conflict resolution skills and emotional intelligence are essential to navigate interpersonal dynamics and foster positive relationships with the team and all SLCC campuses.

Important note: Unforeseen emergency circumstances, such as natural disasters, may arise at any hour of the day, necessitating on-call availability during such events.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

  • Leads a team in event set-ups, teardowns, and clean-ups.

  • Assists with personnel decisions and operational oversight.

  • Trains staff and ensures compliance with college policies.

  • Collaborates with departments to plan and execute events.

  • Manages event equipment storage, allocation, and distribution.

  • Oversees supplies inventory and orders within budget constraints.

  • Coordinates deliveries and completes work orders.

  • Assists with light custodial and snow removal duties as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties Continued Minimum Qualifications

Must have one of the following combinations of education and experience:

  • High school diploma and four (4) years of related full-time experience.

  • Associate's degree and two (2) years of related full-time experience.

  • Bachelor's degree in related field.

Trade off 1:1 in experience/education requirement.

Part time experience may be considered on a prorated basis.

Current Utah Driver License.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced computer proficiency.

  • Leadership experience.

  • Experience pulling trailers and operating a forklift.

  • Event setup and teardown experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Proficiency in custodial and event set-up practices.

  • Familiarity with Team Cleaning methods.

  • Effective leadership and motivational skills.

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.

  • Basic computer skills, including MS Office applications.

  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.

  • Knowledge of safety regulations and adherence to organizational policies.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, and ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College.

  • Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic background of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.
