The University of New Mexico is seeking an Education Support Coordinator to join the Department of Dental Medicine, Division of Dental Hygiene. The Division of Dental Hygiene houses the School of Dental Hygiene and is an interdepartmental program organized to build collaboration in the areas of education, research and service.

The Department of Dental Medicine at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine in Albuquerque is looking for a full-time Education Support Coordinator to coordinate and assist with public, professional, and/or community educational programs, including day-to-day operations while under general supervision. The coordinator will be responsible for representing the department by being present in the building, assisting future and current dental hygiene students and completing various education related projects. The coordinator will present curricula, assemble presentations, prepare materials, and support and/or facilitate classes, workshops, seminars, and other training services. The coordinator may assist with grant proposals, promotional materials, and/or program implementation, administration, and reporting.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops and maintains records and databases on student and program activities, materials, equipment, and supplies.

  • Performs or oversees clerical and administrative support tasks, including answering telephones, assisting and resolving problems and inquiries of staff, faculty, students, and visitors, reviewing and organizing incoming and outgoing correspondence, orders and purchases projects supplies and materials for the curriculum.

  • Coordinates student registration for special educational programs.

  • Collects and analyzes data; prepares scheduled and special reports; maintains program/project records and statistical information.

  • Assists with the design and implementation of all curricula and course materials for public, professional, and/or community educational programs.

  • Writes, edits, and coordinates development of schedules, course catalogs, promotional materials, educational materials, training manuals, newsletters, brochures.

  • Schedules, organizes, and facilitates the delivery of curriculum and other educational programming; presents or assists in the presentation of established curriculum, as appropriate to the individual position.

  • Creates, types, and edits program correspondence, purchasing documents, reports, program handbooks, and other program related documents.

  • Coordinates activities of support staff, consultants, and/or volunteers engaged in implementation and administration of program objectives.

  • Coordinates space and facilities usage as appropriate to overall curriculum requirements.

  • May monitor, reconcile, and assist with fiscal administration for the program, including but not limited to budgets, funding, grant proposal writing, contracts, payroll, travel, and/or purchasing as appropriate; may participate in other fundraising activities.

  • May provide administrative assistance with faculty and/or staff searches, as appropriate, to include logging employment applications: preparing applicant acknowledgements and interview documents, coordinating interview logistics, and coordinating search documentation.

  • May travel to other relevant community venues, as required, in support of curricular activities.

  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by manager.

Conditions of Employment Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
