Responsible for overseeing the performance of testsperformed by staff under his/her supervision. Is responsible for ensuring that tests are performed in accordance withthe laboratory's procedure manuals and that the applicable quality controlrequirements are met.

Must be capable ofperforming tests in section and is responsible for the accuracy of tests. Work closely with other lab personnel and hasfrequent contact with patients, nurses, physicians, and other employees.


Reports to LaboratoryDirector and Assistant Director.

V. Job Functions
1.Reviewswork of others done in the department. Resolves technical problems and ensures remedial actions have beentaken.
2.Maintainsaccreditation with JCAHO, CAP, state, FDA, and AABB.
3.Actsas a role model for other laboratory personnel to follow.
4.Identifiestraining and education needs of individuals performing tests.
5.Demonstratesthe ability to assess a situation from many perspectives, consider variousalternatives, and choose the appropriate action.
6.Demonstratesgood leadership by developing standards of performance, areas responsible foraccountability, and delegation of authority to various support personnel.
7.Demonstratesbroad knowledge of laboratory departments.
8.Performswork according to established policies and procedures.
9.Correlatesresults with diagnosis and each other, and questions all incompatible results.
10. Demonstratesability to deal with priorities first, and plans for completion of remainingduties.
11. Makeseffort to expand knowledge of departmental and laboratory operations.
12. Isaccessible to laboratory to provide on site, telephone consultation.
13. Evaluate,monitor and ensure the competency of all testing personnel assigned to his/hersection or shift.
14. Performsperformance appraisals as directed by the laboratory technical director.
15. Disciplinesemployees following hospital policy and procedure at the direction of thelaboratory technical director.

Bachelors Degree in Medical Technology or relatedbiological science, ASCP or equivalent registry or eligible.

Certification: Blood Bank Coordinator: SBB Certification preferred.

Outpatient Lab Coordinator: BLS required.

Experience: Must have at least two years supervisoryexperience.

Decision makingsubstantiated by in depth knowledge of laboratory procedures, principles andinstruments. Excellent oral and writtencommunication skills.

The Case Management Coordinator utilizes critical thinking and judgment to collaborate and inform the case management process, in order to facilitate appropriate healthcare outcomes for members by providing care coordination, support and education for members through the use of care management tools and resources Job Responsibilities: Evaluation of members through the use of care management tools and information/data review, conducts comprehensive evaluation of referred members needs/eligibility and recommends an approach to case resolution and/or meeting needs by evaluating members benefit plan and available internal and external programs/services. Identifies high risk factors and service needs that may impact member outcomes and care planning components with appropriate referral to clinical case management or crisis intervention as appropriate. Coordinates and implements assigned care plan activities and monitors care plan progress. Enhancement of Medical Appropriateness and Quality of Care: Using holistic approach consults with case managers, supervisors, Medical Directors and/or other health programs to overcome barriers to meeting goals and objectives; presents cases at case conferences to obtain multidisciplinary review in order to achieve optimal outcomes. Identifies and escalates quality of care issues through established channels. Utilizes negotiation skills to secure appropriate options and services necessary to meet the members benefits and/or healthcare needs. Utilizes influencing/ motivational interviewing skills to ensure maximum member engagement and promote lifestyle/behavior changes to achieve optimum level of health. Provides coaching, information and support to empower the member to make ongoing independent medical and/or healthy lifestyle choices. Helps member actively and knowledgably participate with their provider in healthcare decision-making. Monitoring, Evaluation and Documentation of Care. Utilizes case management and quality management processes in compliance with regulatory and accreditation guidelines and company policies and procedures. Background/Experience Desired: Managed Care experience preferred Case management and discharge planning experience preferred Minimum of 2 years' experience in behavioral health, social services or appropriate related field equivalent to program focus Computer literacy and demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite and strong keyboard navigation skills are required Education and Licensure Requirements Minimum of a Bachelor's degree or non-licensed master level clinician required, with either degree being in behavioral health or relevant/related human services preferred (psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy, counseling). Master's Degree preferred. Telework: Must be able to come into the office during the training period.
