Overview

An Intern is responsible for assisting Hyland staff with the execution of departmental goals and mission by fulfilling a wide variety of tasks.

  • This Co-op is for the spring semester. it is full time hours and will start January 2019*

Responsibilities

  • Utilize department specific software and tools to complete assignments and tasks

  • Participate in team meetings

  • Liaise with other areas to resolve information or project requests by department staff

  • Compile and analyze information and develop reports, proposals, or documents

  • Maintain accurate documentation and records on all projects assigned

  • Engage with peers and team members to obtain knowledge to complete projects

  • Complete all assignments as directed

  • Follow all current standards utilized by your team

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an educational institution

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software products

  • Attentive to department needs as demonstrated by rapid and high-quality responsiveness to requests

  • Excellent interpersonal skills; able to maintain solid rapport with team members as well as maintain professionalism with those outside of department

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills that demonstrate a professional demeanor and the ability to interact with others with discretion and tact

  • Keen attention to detail

  • Capable of identifying and completing tasks independently, with a sense of urgency and ownership

  • Demonstrated success at maintaining high personal work standards

  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and tact

  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the principal duties of the position.

You will serve as the Director/Manager Test Laboratory. What You'll Be Doing At Solera, we believe in providing clarity and focus to what our volunteers are responsible for – their mission. The 80's, as we call them at Solera, are the employee's priorities associated with their role or mission. The mission 80's for this role, are: 1. Manage all operations, staff, business functions, equipment, maintenance, and safety compliance for a full-scale, high-speed, vehicle crash test facility. 2. Establish, refresh, and maintain business plan, facility and equipment specifications for vehicle crash testing operations. 3. Manage integration of business opportunities across Research and Product portfolios aligned with client needs. Additional responsibilities of the role include: * Management of all staffing, business functions, equipment, maintenance, policies, procedures, and safety compliance for a full-scale vehicle crash test facility. * Includes staffing and procedures for full scale vehicle testing for developmental, compliance and other purposes. * Includes supervisory responsibility of team necessary to conduct low and high speed full scale testing. * Responsibility for Anthropomorphic Test Device (Crash Test Dummy) procurement, management, calibrations, and maintenance * Establish and maintain full scale system specifications and performance * Accountable for laboratory equipment maintenance and calibration schedules * Accountable for staff training and safety compliance procedures and execution * Determine facility and equipment needs to support current business and future opportunities * Manage current and cultivate new vendor relationships necessary to operate the facility and perform all related functions * Ability to cultivate and maintain customer relationships customer interaction, high-level problem solving, and data analysis Are You Qualified? PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS: * At least 5 years previous experience managing a similar crash test facility or function. * Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited 4-year school. Master's degree in Engineer or Business a plus. * Experience managing teams. * Experience procuring, managing and maintaining Anthropomorphic Test Devices (ATDs). * Experience working in the automotive industry with awareness and understanding of its trends, history and culture. * Strong communication and interpersonal skills, a focus on strategy and organization, and ability to multi-task. * Superior presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal. * Ability to communicate both technical and non-technical information to audiences of varied backgrounds and disciplines. * Work in a team-based environment to achieve common goals. * Maintain and perform with top level professional integrity and executive presence. * Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook proficiency * Have a valid passport or ability to obtain one with ability to travel internationally * Strong analytical problem-solving skills and hands-on experience with hardware, tools, instruments, CAN or similar protocol. * Valid driver's license with at least 5 years of driving experience and insurable.
