The Vertex Co-op Program offers students the opportunity to learn about the pharmaceutical industry from a hands-on perspective. Vertex is building an HR Employee Services function to better serve our employees throughout their employment life cycle. The team will design, deploy and deliver an interactive HR portal as the first point of contact for all workforce inquiries and transactions driving operational excellence, enhanced employee experience and smart process automation in order to proactively affect service and process excellence in HR Delivery. We will instill stronger quality and a best in class user experience through data based decision making, a robust HR employee service catalog and digital innovation in service interfaces including web and mobile access 24/7 to HR knowledgebase globally.

We are looking for a graduate-level industrial engineering or computer science student to join us in this transformation.

Co-op Timeline: January 2019 June 2019, Full Time

Key Responsibilities

  • Review existing processes and documentation

  • Analyze findings from discovery interviews

  • Design and process map best-in-class workforce-lifecycle workflows

  • Assist in building knowledge base inventory

  • Interact and collaborate with core process team, key stakeholders and implementation partner

Minimum Qualifications

  • Candidate must be enrolled in an advanced degree program

  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and Visio

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills

  • Comfort with computerized systems and the ability to pick up new skills quickly with minimal formal instruction

  • Background in robotics/artificial intelligence

  • System administration capabilities

  • Experience developing process maps and swim lanes

  • Familiarity with ServiceNow

  • Project management experience

  • Studying computer/industrial engineering, computer science or a related field

The HR professional will serve as the main HR contact for employees and provide HR guidance and support to assigned offices within the New England area of the Northeast Region. 3-5 years if progressive HR experience, ready to take the next step in your career.</p><p><strong>Requirements</strong></p><p><strong>Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Serve as primary point of contact for employee questions related to benefits, payroll, policies, and other HR programs, and partner with internal HR resources to resolve issues as needed.</li> <li>Responsible for the day to day implementation of policies and programs, covering several areas including recruiting, training, employee relations, and engagement.</li> <li>Ensure consistent interpretation and administration of company policies and procedures, practices and principles relating to employee relations and risk management; counsel and advise management and recommend approaches to resolve problems.</li> <li>Responsible for the administration, compliance and security of accurate, timely and complete employee records.</li> <li>Maintain full compliance with all applicable state and federal laws and regulations related to employment, employee relations, compensation and all other aspects of human resources.</li> <li>Work closely with management and HR leaders to improve working relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retention.
