Job Description

Position Title: Software Engineer Co-op/Intern for Store Optimizer Product Development

Location: Roswell, GA

Start Date: 5/18/2020

Special Note:

  • This is anticipated to be a full-time [40 hours/week], rotational, co-op starting in January, 2020.

  • To qualify, applicants must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and currently enrolled in their Sophomore or Junior year.

  • Must be able to work full-time during the semester.


Students working in the JDA Co-op Program will be challenged with all aspects of product development including business analysis, quality engineering, software engineering, user experience design and team leadership. Throughout the program, the student will have a mentor who will coach and guide them as they take on the responsibilities for the various roles within Product Development. Co-op participants will work and contribute as a full team member of the Product Development organization.

Note: This position is not static and will be revised as the needs of JDA's business and the Product Development department evolves.

The primary goals of the Co-op Participant are as follows:

  • Understand the role(s) that are necessary for producing software

  • Learn and improve upon skills in each role

Skills that the Co-op will receive mentoring to improve upon while working at JDA are below:

  • Business Analysis

  • Clarify business problem

  • Define the value in solving those business problems

  • Guide team to balance appropriate technical solution for the business problem

  • Quality Engineering

  • Practice Test Driven Development

  • Define and document acceptance tests and regression tests

  • Collaborate with development teams to ensure proposed solutions truly meet the needs of the business problems

  • Validate that the completed solution meets the business needs

  • Software Engineering

  • Read and understand code

  • Learn and employ standard coding and design practices

  • Participate in team-based development using Agile Scrum methodology and Paired Programming

  • Track down and fix bugs.

  • User Experience Design

  • Analyze product functional needs and how users interact with features

  • Engage in usability and product styling design discussions

  • Help coordinate usability testing efforts

  • Team Leadership

  • Assist development managers with coordinating and distributing work

  • Gather and analyze metrics to provide rich information for further decision making


  • Read and write code (C#, JavaScript, or Java preferred)

  • Learn quickly and document research

Responsibilities * Metro Atlanta geographical territory* The Business Development Consultant is responsible for growing referrals within a defined geography while enhancing the relationships and loyalty of those clients and facilities. Works collaboratively with the WellStar service line leaders to develop strategies to engage new referral relationships. Identifies opportunities to expand referrals for ALL major service lines. Responsibilities include increased referrals through account acquisition and territory management by creating meaningful relationships and trust. Works collaboratively with administration and all health system staff at each WellStar hospital/system location. Delivers service line presentations to potential clients. Promotes specified services offered by WellStar Health System. Reports Market Intelligence and identifies issues that are barriers to referrals and increased business. Develops target lists for service line and system growth. Leads phase two onboarding for new MDs to WellStar by initiating introductions to key physicians, facilities and leaders. Works collaboratively with practice management to insure smooth navigation of the WellStar Health System. Keen knowledge of tertiary services to cross sell in all geographies. Responsibility for maximizing system referrals from employed primary care and specialists to drive WMG growth by identifying system leakage and developing plans to increase system utilization. The Territory Managers participate in recruitment activities as appropriate including identifying potential opportunities for the WellStar Medical Group and WellStar Clinical Partners. Qualifications Required Minimum Education * Bachelor's Degree in Sales and Marketing or healthcare related field required. Required Minimum Experience * At least 5-7 years of complex sales or healthcare sales or marketing experience in a highly competitive market. Previous health system experience preferred. Knowledge of Metro Atlanta/North Georgia physician practices preferred. Required Minimum Skills * Must have excellent communication skills. Should be highly intelligent, professional, and polished. Must have the ability to inspire trust and credibility among senior leaders, physicians, and physician staff. Must have the ability to think on their feet, should be savvy and possess exceptional interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability as an individual contributor, while exceling as a team player. Must have a working knowledge of basic computer capabilities with Microsoft Office (Word,Excel and PowerPoint). Working knowledge of sales and healthcare business environment. Must be organized and attentive to detail. Exceptional customer service skills. Must be able to handle multiple high priority tasks. Position requires a valid Georgia drivers license. Must be able to operate a car and travel to all accounts and facilities as required. 80% of work hours require car travel. Capacity to think creatively and seek innovative alternatives. Must possess good territory and time management skills. Must be able to work independently and use good judgement according to established policy.
