The position is a full-time, paid coop internship available at our Sudbury, MA location. Extensive training, real-world experience, hands-on opportunities and guidance from professionals will all aid in broadening your technical expertise, while offering exposure to one of our company's most exciting new technologies.
United Therapeutics' subsidiary, Lung Biotechnology PBC, is seeking an engineering student intern to work within the Total Artificial Lung (TAL) development team, which is currently involved in the research and development phase of the technology.
The engineering intern will aide in design and execution of laboratory tasks in support of the TAL team which consists of 8 full-time engineers and scientists plus additional on-site contractors.. The successful candidate must have a strong desire to be hands-on in the lab and working on projects within the biomedical device industry.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
Keep records including lab notebook and acquired sensor data neat, organized and up to date
Interface with vendors to obtain quotations, and procure parts
Interface with Lung Biotechnology's subject matter expert consultants to inform design iterations and tests
Work hands-on in the lab with the engineers to set up, fabricate, and execute tests and collate results
Present data to the team in an organized way both written and orally
Conduct literature searchers related to novel materials, processes, and sensors in the biomedical field
Enrolled in Biomedical, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or Materials Engineering (undergraduate or graduate level), GPA of 3.0 or better is expected
At least in their third year of school
Other Preferred Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Successful completion of previous coop experience or other internships is a plus
Knowledge of laboratory instrumentation or data acquisition software (LabVIEW, etc) is preferred
Prior experience with SolidWorks is a plus
