Overview

Our Indianapolis, Indiana office is seeking an Co-op Engineer for Spring 2019!

Relocation and housing are NOT provided for this position.

Job Summary

Under close supervision, assists assigned department(s) and/or project(s) by performing basic engineering-related tasks which may reflect elements of standard post-secondary engineering curriculum, usually on a part-time, temporary, or co-op basis.

Essential Responsibility

  • Assists engineer teams in various tasks and duties.

  • Assists Engineer with research, development and design of projects.

  • Assists Engineer with the preparation of engineering drawings and documents as assigned.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Additional ResponsibilitiesWater Resources Engineering Intern Assist in development of water resources reports Perform basic engineering calculations Organize information for use in drawings or other documents Assist other engineers in various tasks and duties Basic Qualification High School Diploma/GED or equivalent plus current enrollment in an accredited post-secondary engineering program

Preferred Qualification/SkillsCompletion of 2 years of post-secondary civil engineering program

General Work Conditions Office Environment: Work is generally performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to potentially unpleasant working conditions. Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently, and reach horizontally as well as vertically for overhead use.

Job Description DLZ Corporation currently has an exciting Entry Level Civil Engineer - Water Department opportunities in our Indianapolis, South Bend and Fort Wayne, IN. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: * Perform water / wastewater engineering, construction, and design assignments, requiring a solid grasp of civil engineering and the exercise of professional judgment. * Typically given projects of minor to moderate complexity and may have leadership responsibility for less experienced engineers or technicians. * Assist project manager in more complex Water Department assignments, perform work under close supervision, and provide support to more experienced personnel. * Perform analysis and design required for various water / wastewater facilities. * Prepare sketches and diagrams for use by technicians. Review and check detailed storm, sanitary, and / or water line drawings and layouts. * Perform and direct others in the designs, systems and equipment items of moderate complexity. * Assist in the preparation of reports, economic, and technical feasibility studies and studies aimed at evaluating alternative systems, equipment, materials or engineering methods. * Assist in the preparation of contract / proposals specifications and construction cost estimates. * Review Contractor's shop drawing submittal. * Perform construction monitoring and coordinate field activities. * Perform all work in a safe and responsible manner, in accordance with the Health and Safety Plan. * Perform other duties as assigned. JOB QUALIFICATIONS: * Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering * 0 – 7 years relevant experience * HECRAS modeling and Hydroflow modeling experience or equivalent preferred * Storm, sanitary, and/or water line design experience preferred * Engineer-in-Training (EIT), pursuing Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred. * Experience with AutoCad, Civil 3D, and/or Microstation * Site/Civil work experience is beneficial * Strong interpersonal and written skills * Ability to visit and safely traverse construction and project sites and complying with all applicable safety codes and requirements.
